I don't think Fisher makes the Rams an instant contender or anything, but let's not kid ourselves. The guy is a solid coach. At the very least, he likely wouldn't have pulled the poor coaching decisions that led to at least one of our victories over the Rams this year. Hiring Fisher makes that team better. Their roster, on the other hand, still needs some work.

Wow. Fisher is good. But I dont know about instant contender. Developed QB's? How'd Vince Young pan out? His mom calling out for people to quit being so hard on him. Now you can say Kerry Collins. But he was a veteran at the time. Thought the Rams might be better than the 2 wins they got this year. But I dont see the instant sucess. Hopefully Horton will have a chip on his shoulder and take it to the rams next year.

It's a shame Steven Jackson already has significant mileage on his legs and Sam No TDs Bradford sucks.

He'll make the Rams better, I know that's not saying much, but you can tell by his actions that he wanted the Miami job first but they wouldn't give him personnel control. They needed a veteran coach to come. I look for him to trade back and start drafting defense. His Titan teams were always based on physical defenses.

Rumor is that the reason Fisher rejected Dolphins is that Marc Anthony and the Williams sisters would not give him player personnel authority. Can't spell Dolphins without dysfunctional.

Dolphins have now been rejected by

Jim Harbaugh
John Gruden
Bill Cowher
Jeff Fisher

All this love for Fisher...how come none for Billick, who has a better winning pct, won a Super Bowl, won as many playoff games and is one winning season shy of what Fisher produced in just over half the amount of time as a head coach? Really what is the big difference between those 2? It must be the personality because I just don't see him being the coaching genius he is made out to be. He is an average coach, not elite not HOF worthy

Is Dennis Green elite too? His winning pct is higher than Fishers in a similar amount of seasons?

Fisher compiled his record working for Bud Adams. Just look what happened to Denny when he came to work for the Bidwills.

6-10,5-11,5-11.

It's HOW they compiled their records. Fisher had some teams that an average coach would have driven to the cellar of the NFL. Fisher made them at least respectable.

I like Billick, too, though. I think maybe he's either enjoying his life as a broadcaster (at which which I also think he's pretty good), or he's waiting for the absolute perfect job to come along for him.

JMHO, but I think Fisher is a really, really good coach...and unfortunately, we're going to have front row seats to it over the next decade.

(And just FYI, his .542 winning percentage that you deride would put him in the top 50 coaches of all time in the NFL. Let's get our sh*t straight)
Try again.

He is 61st all time, out of 157 coaches in NFL history who have coached enough games to qualify (50 games). He is right above Chuck Fairbanks and Jim Mora, but just below Dennis Green. I wouldn't consider any of them elite. That conversation has to start at .600 IMO.

Taking a horrible team and making them average doesn't do anything for me....

Dude, a .542 winning percentage (after 17 years) would put him...well, where he was, commanding any coaching job in the league. You also seem unaware that he's already chosen the Rams, which he did. Yes, he did get to pick, and he chose the Rams dude. Let's at least stay current, you dig? He had Eddie George and Steve McNair in contention just about every year. Now he's with the Rams with, what I consider, a better QB and a better RB, in a much weaker division. He was fighting against the Ravens during their glory days on defense man, he was fighting the Pats in the snow. Cmon man. You been watching football much the past 20 years? There's only 32 NFL head coaching jobs in the WORLD, it's an elite group, and he's elite.

You believe Bradford is better than McNair and you are questioning whether someone else has watched much football for the last 20 years? Bradford had a horrible year and is a long way from being mentioned in a comparison with McNair.

Fisher's immediate goal: Fisher pointed to becoming competitive within the NFC West as his top priority. The Rams were 0-6 in the division this season. Fisher said he would field a "disciplined, tough, physical football team" that can win in the division. He wants to field a team that runs the ball, protects the quarterback and forces turnovers.
