Chuck Levy as the two point conversion specialist. Brilliant!!

Buddy of mine moved into kinda an older and a little seedy apartment complex in west phoenix around 19th ave and Bethany right out of college--

after he had been living there for a while, he tells me in all seriousness that his complex is pretty hip -- he sees Chuck Levy and Richard Dumas (of the Suns) there all the time ---

six months later, when both were suspended for testing positive, he figured out that "hip-ness" wasnt why Levy and Dumas were hanging there.

I forgot about Levy being suspended. Way to go, wildcat.

Last I heard, he was a dentist in Rumson, NJ

Gary Cuozzo: My first favorite football player ever. Why? Because he was on the very first football card I ever had. Nice reason, huh?

Cuozzo was a career backup QB; although, in the '60s he was considered one of the best backup QBs in the league. He was Johnny Unitas's primary backup for a number of years, and also backed up Fran Tarkenton and Joe Kapp along the way.

I was so excited when he was traded to the Cardinals before the '72 season (a bad, bad deal as it turned out), and Cuozzo split the starting QB spot with Jim Hart and Tim Van Gelder. Then, Cuozzo retired to go into dentistry full-time (he had been practicing in the off-season for a number of years), and Hart took over for good.

My mother took me to a Cardinals training camp in '73 (back when they were training in Illinois), and I was able to talk to a Cardinals assistant coach. Of course, I asked about Cuozzo - why he retired, where he was, etc. The coach was probably nice to me because I was a 10-year-old at the time, but he also told me the whole story about his dental practice and why he retired.

Cuozzo also had a son who had been a QB at - I think Princeton - who, if I remember correctly, was found dead in a dumpster in Miami in the '80s of a drug overdose. Not sure if I have those details correct; couldn't find anything about it online.

Cuozzo's football card while at St. Louis:

When I finally do get a personalized authentic jersey (believe it or not, I still don't have one), it will be #15 for Neil Lomax and Gary Cuozzo.
