Jalen Thompson's tackling has enabled Vance to play Budda deep. Playing Budda deep has forced QBs to check the ball down or hold the ball longer. And Vance isn't necessarily concerned with playing to players strengths, who can execute the scheme best. Vance plays Budda deep because Vance feels Budda is the player who can best play deep S and he has a player in Jalen who can support vs the run. This is why Vallejo and Gardeck play over Zaven and why Simmons struggles at times.

This would be fine if he would use Budda in over-the-top coverage of key players. Often Budda is a non-factor on too many plays.

Buddha playing deep seems a gross misuse. He is not exactly a ball hawk in anyway shape or form.
