If Cleveland offered JJ 60mil for 6yrs would the suns match? And if so how much do you think the Cavs could offer that the suns wouldn't match?
I'd like to see him playing alongside Lebron because I think they'd compliment each other very well.

Wtf? Why post stuff like this in the middle of our plaoff run? What Suns fan wants to see a player like JJ leave?

Thats just a ridiculous comment.

The SUNS will make a statement we will match any offer.

With Allen and others on the market, time will be critical for offseason shooting guard hunters, Cleveland and other suitors will not waste their time.

With Q, it was different in we were dealing with the Clippers history of not matching offers. The SUNS are a different story. JJ is not going anywhere. So what if we go over the salary cap. With increase ticket sales, we would endure the over the cap taxes.

My concern, is Hunter and JimJ. Love to keep both of those guys around another year.

Jim Jackson is under contract through next year. The Phoenix Suns free agents this summer are Joe Johnson (restricted), Stephen Hunter, and Walter McCarty.

Steve Kerr basically said we'll match any offer for JJ (I forget where I read the interview), reasoning that even a max deal would not push us over the cap for at least a few years, when everybody's raises accumulate--and he said we'll deal w/ cost issues when we have to. And it makes sense--even if JJ gets a max deal and we're looking at operating losses three or four years from now, we can trade a salary then--it's not like we'll have untradable players like the Knicks--I'm sure the Hawks or Jazz or any other team with cap space would love to take any of our high salaried core players off our hands.

one more thing is that even if the team does go over the cap, with being a successful team and the increase of suns stuff and national TV games and sale outs the suns can go over the cap without and real problems.

by the way, with the new CBA coming in place after July 1, there is no way such a contract would even be possible. i hope you know that.

max lengths will either be 4 or 5 years (owners are pushing for 3, this may be the reason there's a lockout) for other teams to offer JJ.

I have got to imagine that with the new CBA the cap number will have to rise. The Suns right now are 25th in the league as far as commited salaries are concerned with 46 M. The top 5 currently are NYK @104 M, Dallas @91M, Portland @78M, Philly @74M, and Memphis @74M. (Portland's will drasticly decline and all of these are double what the actual cap number is). All of these teams must be paying the luxury tax and there is no way to roll back the contracts that already exist. I guarentee that owners will be begging for relief from paying these penalties that weren't necessarily brought on to the team that currently holds these inflated contracts.

I think they should just out and say right when the season ends, "We will match any offer for Joe Johnson, and we'll wait until the last day to do so."

i disagree. i think its better karma to go ahead and negotiate with jj and come to terms with him. that way you don't have to have him sign an offer sheet with another team and go through that nonsense. i think the suns want him, they're good at negotiating contracts. we shouldn't have to match the offer sheet jj signs. if i'm jj, i take that as disrespect. if you want me, YOU sign me, don't match what someone else does. that's nonsense.

Right, You only have to match if he signs someone else's offer sheet. Just sign him.
