I'm thinking Denver snaps him up in the next few days & I would be shocked if the Cards signed him with all the age they cut this offseason.

Plenty of cap space available, and a major need. No reason this shouldn't be done.

Has he every played OLB? Kind of OLD to learn how to play standing up.

I'd be surprised if he was more than a nominal starter. He hasn't played OLB (and was shipped off to Atlanta from the Jets when they switched to a 3-4). He can have a lot of value as a down end in nickel situations, but apparently he wants to be an every-down player for someone.

That may have changed. It would be nice to have SOMEONE at outside linebacker who could win a one-on-one matchup.

Wait, I thought FO showed that the Cards' rush lB' were serviceable.

I could be totally wrong about this, but didn't Bertrand Berry do the same when Whiz got here. That means he was 32 when that happened and he had two pretty good years other than injuries.

From my reading, it suggested that these guys weren't terrible pass rushers, they were just unlucky at closing the deal in 2013 (Kind of like your dating life). Here's what FO had to say about the rush linebackers:

On the outside, fourth-round pick Alex Okafor (Texas) and free-agent additions Lorenzo Alexander (ex-Redskins) and Matt Shaughnessy (ex-Raiders) join Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield. Just don’t expect too much from the new additions. Alexander is a career special teamer, Shaughnessy is making a transition from playing with his hand in the dirt to standing up, and Okafor had the second-worst SackSEER rating among 2013 combine invitees.

I would always prefer a guy who I know can win one-on-one matchups (at the right price, of course) over a guy that I'm hoping will. The issue that I usually have with aging stop-gap veterans is that they take reps away from promising younger players. In this case, there may not be much development to interrupt.

Screams Joey Porter to me. It was only yesterday on Sirius radio they were saying Abraham was totally done and it wasn't the first time. The only people saying he has game left seem to be Cardinal fans.

I was going to say this signing will only work if the Cardinals play themselves, but I didn't want to be a jerk.

If he is willing to be a rush DE in sub packages, sign him. If not, move on. I imagine at this point of the year, he doesn't have a ton of options on the table.

If he has the ability to still rush the passer and that may be a big if, in obvious passing downs why wouldn't the defense go to a 4 man line with DD, CC, Abraham, and maybe Big Dan or Carter as the 4th lineman. Maybe someone else. We are always saying that it would be nice if the defense could pressure with only 4 rushing. At the right price it could fill that situation.

What happened between his 10 sacks last season and now?
