In the Boston Globe today, the Pats' writers were questioning the Jones trade in that their sack numbers through the first 4 weeks are down. They do get Rob Ninkovich back from suspension today so that should help, but the writers were acknowledging Jones' absence as one of the reasons why.

Honestly I don't think he was a bust. He was looking good before he broke his leg. After that, he wasn't the same. So I wouldn't consider him a bust, just got that major injury that ruined his career.
He didn't suffer a major injury. He broke a bone. No rod or crazy surgery was needed. He failed for the exact reason I said he would when we drafted him. He's mentally soft and doesn't love football. The effort wasn't there.

Nine out of the top ten picks from the 2013 draft haven't been top ten caliber with Ziggy Ansah being the exception. It's amazing in this era of draft emphasis that so many teams got it wrong.

Plus...a 2nd round pick for a very young bass rusher...who hasn't even hit his prime...isn't a steep price to pay. Especially considering the Cardinals bad luck with 2nd round picks...I see this as a home-run for Keim.

The 2013 draft was very poor.. the two best players are probably a second rounder (Le'veon Bell) and a third rounder (Honey Badger).

Another high round reach & bust by Keim.

Unless those picks improves its gonna start biting this team in the ass shortly big time.

Give Keim credit for answering with the signing of Mike Iupati. Iupati was being hotly pursued by a host of teams.

Who would people have taken instead of Cooper - hindsight being 20/20 and all..

The 5 picks after Cooper were:

1. Tavon Austin - not a need, despite being the annual speed WR guy Mitch tries to convince the board we need to take in the first round

2. Dee Milliner - also cut

3. Chance Warmack - I don't think he's been much better than Cooper

4. DJ Fluker - don't know much about him, but don't think he's stood out

5. DJ Hayden - overdrafted and hasn't stood out

Beyond that, you had some players - including Sheldon Richardson & Star Lotuelei (both DT's that we didn't have a huge need for at the time... probably should have taken one of these two in retrospect), Jarvis Jones (had some injury concerns but has panned out) and a couple of safetys (Kenny Vacarro & Eric Reid) who had we taken them we probably wouldn't have taken Honey Badger.

We could have taken someone who would have panned out better, but I don't think there was an obvious guy we really bit the big one on by not taking.

I would sign him to a vet minlmum contract if he is able to play soon. Both our starting guards are hurt. If Watford goes down we have nothing to replace him.
I'm guessing SK will go to his FA guard prospect list and (if he feels the right guy is there to fill the need for a guard) he'll sign the guy at the top of the list - whether it be Cooper or anyone else.

I was all over wanting Star Lotuelei. Cooper wasn't a bad pick if you go by BPA at the time. My problem was taking a guard in the top 10. But, admittedly, I was also in favor of Chance Warmack if Lotueliei wasn't the pick and Chance hasn't done much either. Picks sometimes don't work out, that doesn't mean it was a bad pick at the time. Keim and the Cards obviously liked him. I remember my scout friend telling me how much he liked Cooper and thought it was a great pick.

Not sure why we don't pick up Cooper. We need guards right now. He does have talent and he has played in our system. He is not worthy of the first round pick etc, but he must be a better option that ps players from other teams.

If you can't make it in Cleveland...chances are you won't make it in the NFL. He had the athletic ability, but between the ears was probably his downfall.

I thought he played pretty well his first couple games with Cleveland. Sounds like he wasn't very good vs San Diego

Never played up to his salary. ($675K). Ouch. His rookie contract expires this year.

Hopefully he socked away his signing bonus of $2.6 mil

Maybe the Browns plan on bringing him back in the off season with a puny contract offer.

HE'S SOFT!!!!! That was always the problem. Christ. I really do need a FO position apparently. I said he would never make it after watching just one quick interview. The guy's main love was music. He was mentally like a cupcake and it was plain as day. Keim should be so disgustingly embarrassed with himself. The end. Nkimdeche isn't far off, either. He's not soft but doesn't care enough to ever be great.

To put a #8 overall, supremely talented (albeit bust thus far), G (need position), who knows our system on our practice squad for PS $$$?

This is a no brainer. Of course bring him back.
