Former NFL wide receiver Josh Gordon shared his thoughts on what the culture behind the scenes was like with the New England Patriots during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era.

For Gordon, it was like night and day going from a struggling team like the Cleveland Browns to the multiple-time Super Bowl-winning Patriots.

“There’s different ways to win, but it worked best by setting the goals high," Gordon told CasinoBeats' Kyle Odegard. "I went from a 1-15 team to a team that won a Super Bowl, and multiple times at that, so it was night and day. It’s not for everybody, because a lot of coaches might not have that mentality or that type of outlook on the game, but the Belichick tree is so big now that I think the secret’s out.

"Everybody’s trying to reach a certain standard. The game has evolved and the attention to detail is there. and it speaks for itself really at this point. The culture is football first, it’s New England first, and it’s diehard. For football purists, it’s the best place to be for football.”

Gordon was with the Patriots for a full season in 2018 and nearly half of the season in 2019. He tallied 60 receptions for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns in total over that time period.

His time with the organization was short, but he learned what it took to maintain such a high standard of excellence at the NFL level.

If anything, his run with the team serves as a reminder that the Patriots had a standard that bred success and winning, which is something the current iteration of the franchise is looking to get back to.
