Who was the QB named Josj playing for the Bears last night. Surely not our old QB. He played lights out against Green Bay. Ran well. Was on target and showed a lot of leadership. I think he has just worked his way back into the NL. He had a great game last week also. He showed he sure was at least a backup in the NL. He had been playing in some minor league but the Bears were in need and he grabbed the bull by the horns and ran with it. Congrats to him. Never thought he had it in him.

Could Trestman be responsible for Josh's improvement?

Come to think of it, were Trestman and McCown Cardinals at the same time?

No, Marc left in 2000 and Josh was drafted in 2002.

It's McCown unless you're just giving him that "a" for performance.

He showed some of that ability while he was here. I think he's grown into being a very good backup QB. It's much easier to step into this role when you're given a good running game and a solid game plan and the other teams have very little recent game film on you. It will probably get tougher for him each week until Cutler returns but if Forte continues to average 5 yards per carry on 20 plus attempts, he should do fine.

Good for Josh. I think that he's always been more comfortable as a backup player than a starter in the NFL. Keep in mind, too, that it's been a L-O-N-G time since McCown played a meaningful football game, and the NFL catches up to everyone (unless they don't).

We'll see how teams play at him over the next week or two.

+1

Very true.

Yet, in Josh McCown's defense, his problem was always reading the defense. He always had a good arm, and good accuracy for the most part. Just took him FOR-EVER to read a defense and get the ball out.

His experience in the league helped him with his biggest problem. Not surprised when he has success from time to time.

I liked McCown when he was in Arizona, but Denny didn't care for him. He's taken a long road to get where he's at today. Played for a few NFL teams and then was playing in the UFL. Good for him.

I'll never forget that pass to Nate Poole against the Vikings.

Agree. This was always his weakness. He just couldn't read the D at game speed.

The Packers pass defense is a disaster. If Rodgers doesn't come back soon that team is DONE.

I hear he's a great basketball player too.

i agree with others, his issue was always making reads at real NFL speed, by the time he saw who was open, the guy was no longer open, or he was getting hit by the pass rush for holding the ball too long.

If that part of his game has improved he'll be better, he always had a strong arm.

He looked ok. He still only completed 52% of his passes and that's throwing to 2 monster targets in Marshall and Jeffery. Still, he played pretty well and did what a backup QB is supposed to do.

Yes 52% but If you watched te game he threw 3 balls away(smart decisions)and had two perfect balls right in the hands dropped. Kid played well and considering the above I have zero issue with the 52% neither did Gruden who mentioned as such during the telecast towards the end.

Maybe that's why Gruden is an unemployed coach :D.

Glad he did good. Good for him to taste some success after toiling as a backup for so many years. Didn't give up or quit and he was really humble in post game interviews.

No deer in the headlights look. That's a plus.

I always liked Josh and felt he was the best QB we had back then. Greene screwed with the kid. I would still take him as my qb in a time of need. Would just as soon have had him than anyone else we have had since Warner. I always thought that no moment ever felt too big for him. He is a perfect example of why rookies would have always been better off being drafted by another team rather than the Cards. They always seemed to destroy or ****** a young players growth.

Arguing about our QBs back then was like arguing which three-legged mule has the best chance at winning the Kentucky Derby.

Blake, King, McCown, someone I'm not remembering, they all SUCKED!!!
