Nothing too earthshaking here:

Odds are less than 50% that Fitz stays. It's both a pay issue and Fitz doesn't like the way he is being used

Larry Foote is thinking of retiring -- that more than anything will determine if he comes back. D Wash 's status plays into this as well.

Cards won't overpay Cromartie.

Bowles agent says that ATL, Chi, Jets, SF and Oak want to talk to him. Bowles will be picky -- the Cards upped his pay to $2 mm per season, making him one of the highest paid coordinators in the league.

No additional QB will be brought in: A lot of money tied up between Palmer and Stanton.

And: expect Arians and perhaps Keim to get redone and extended contacts in the offseason.

Best fit for Bowles IMO is Atlanta. They have the offensive tools. It's their defense that needs tweeking. Throw in the fact that they're in a bad division and you have the greatest possibility of success. I wouldn't touch Oakland with a 50 foot pole. Chicago is a mess as is NY and I don't want him to go to SF because we face them twice a year. :D

It won't be a $$ issue with Fitz. It'll be if BA is willing to put him back outside and work him into the system more.

I agree with you, I think they are picking within the top 10 picks and they should have all their picks this season. They could build a pretty good defense through the draft and free agency and be ready to compete next year. It also helps that the NFC South does not appear to be too strong.

that won't happen, so it will be a $$ issue.
Cuz Arians' offensive system works oh so well. :p

I'm wondering how much more money would compensate for the diminished role.

Id say it's ALOT less than 50/50 Fitz is back in Cardinal red.

...and for Palmer/Stanton to be 11-3 this season...and for Palmer to be 16-6 overall as a Cardinal...but what does Bruce know?
Even when Palmer was healthy, the offense wasn't that good.

The defense deserves the majority of credit for the team's success.

Palmer's Stats this season:

6 wins 0 losses
1626 yards
62.9% Comp
11 TD's 3 INT's
95.6 Rating

86.3 Career Rating

So, Palmer's stats crank up under Arians, and it's the system you want to blame?

Yes, the defense was tremendous the 1st half of the season and great the 3rd qtr of the season, but the offense was just fine with a starting QB...heck, it was still a winnable offense under the 2nd string QB.

.

Why do peeps keep saying this? That simply isn't true & not the first time someone has said this.

I believe the Cards were 1 of the top 3rd down offenses before Palmers injury & they were averaging like 27 pts & 360 yds per game if I'm not mistaken.

So what happens if Palmer does not return to form after injury. The Cardinals are looking at a replay of the end of this season.

Avg 26 pts & 360 yards per game, but D did contribute quite a bit to those totals. These were the 6 games that Palmer played in:

1. vs Chargers - 18 pts / 403 yds

2. vs Washington - 30 pts / 317 yards (defense scored a touchdown & forced 4 turnovers. O was pretty bad against an awful Washington D)

3. @ Oakland - 24 pts / 365 yards

4. vs Eagles - 24 pts / 400 yards ( Defense forced 3 turnovers, but still a pretty good offensive showing. Eagles had an awful secondary though)

5. @ Cowboys - 28 pts / 339 yards (D forced 2 TO's & Palmer had a pick 6)

6. vs Rams - 31 pts / 335 yds (I think we had 14 pts when Palmer went down. Defense forced 3 turnovers & scored twice.

Of the 6 games Palmer played in, 4 were home games. Only 1 of the 6 games he played in were against playoff teams & that game the Cowboys played without Romo. Since when is 360 yards of total offense considered impressive???

Would've been good enough for a top 10 offense. No need to over analyze it, the Cards offense was pretty darn good with #3 behind center.

360y/g would have put as as the 13th ranked offense instead of the 24th. While not super impressive it is a heck of a lot better than where we fared.

If I'm not mistaken though, under Palmer, our TOP was quite impressive which gave us a well rested defense. Our TOP dropped dramatically iirc once Palmer went down.

At this point, when it comes to Fitzgerald, I am good with whatever happens. Whether he stays or leaves is not the end of the world. Great players, but he is not what he once was, and if he doesn't like his role with the team, then I hope the Cardinals find someone who can do it, and happily take on the job.

Nothing against Fitzgerald, all the respect in the world for him, but he is hardly irreplaceable at this point in his career.

I don't see how Stanton and Palmer's money would prevent the Cards from acquiring Mike Glennon. He's under contract for the next 2 years at under 700k per.

Concerning Fitzgerald, I think we get more out of, or get better as a football team with the 9.2 mill we save in cap space if cut/traded then we would get if he just stayed on the team.

unfortunately, I agree with this, especially if Arians is dead-set on using him in the slot, which doesn't play to his strengths.

I think Fitz has still got something left in the tank. He'll probably have an Anquan-esque run with another contender once he's let go, but if Arians won't play to his strengths, he's wasted on the field as is and makes too much money.
