MJ says he talked to Sarnoff.

Reported that Cards, indeed made an offer 2 days ago, with Graves promising to call Sarnoff the next day (yesterday). Graves apparently didn't call.

According Sarnoff - "the offer wasn't a slap in the face" or anything, and the 2 sides "weren't all that far apart." He repeated that "Marcus wants to come here."

Jurecki speculated that Robinson might be looking for a modest signing bonus. When Jurecki brought up the question of a split contract (having to do with compensation should a player under a one year contract get injured) Sarnoff indicated they weren't up to that point yet.

The implication was that the Cards and Robinson were in a negotiating process.

Meanwhile Marcus will continue to visit other teams (Sarnoff said he had a terrific meeting with Fred Biletnikoff in Oakland).

Sounds good. If the above is true, Graves should have gotten back to Sarnoff yesterday, though.

I don't think it does sound good. I think they're dragging their feet and it may cost them.

If they blow this, I'll be pissed. This one is Graves' for the taking.

I will refrain from commenting on Graves and will bite my tongue until Robinson is signed by someone else - or us.

Like you said before, this is a nice slow fast pitch! If McGraves doesn't swing on this one I'm going to start calling him Womack!

Ditto.

Letting Marcus Robinson leave town without a very good offer is stupid. What else are we going to spend our money on?

We have let quality player after quality player skip town and go elsewhere.

Yeah, I like the couple of guys we signed...but we are still half a deck short to play blackjack this season.

Furthermore, how many FA's come to Phx and say 'I want to be here" I will cancel all my other trips-make it happen"?

Not any that I can remember (outside of a possible backup long snapper)

He obviously want to be here, sign him!!

Did you read the first post or listen to Jurecki?

They said they aren't far apart, so you can assume that it was a good offer. Graves needs to get busy and get him in here though.

I think it's too late. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good at all. The Patriots want to bring him in also.

This will be worse than the Boston fiasco if he doesn't get done. Much worse.

Sorry Krang

I have just heard that agent speak all off season. I would love to have some faith right now!

Please pass it on brotha!

All I see are big black clouds ahead in the next 72 hours.

hey man - I've heard that song SO MNAY TIMES this offseason and every time we've REALLY wanted a guy, we've ended up in the mud - until proven otherwise, I will believe Robinson is a goner.

I'm not saying that I have faith or anything....that was never implied or stated.

I get the bad feeling that they will screw this up somehow.

Stop coming up with opinions that match mine! You're making me look negative!

I noticed that today Ken - slowly you are all being converted to the DARKSIDE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

To me it's not being negative - it's being realistic.

If Robinson really wants to be here, maybe McGraves is expecting him to take less money than elsewhere - you know, how every other FA does it to us.

Oh Canada!
The way I see it is the Graves knows that M.Robinson wants to come here and be the man. And he also knows letting him go to visit teams like the Raiders and The 9ers also will let MR see that this is the very best place for him to be a no.1 WR. So therefore when it comes down to putting numbers together we are in the drivers seat. Also Graves knows he has the resources to out bid the other guys in the running so it's a gmble to save cash if they have to they can spend to get him here. I say that after seeing what the agent had to say I'm about 75% sure he'll end up in RED! ARIZONA RED!

Patience is a virtue, superfly.

Having said that....GET IT DONE ALREADY!! Now that I have that out of my system, let's go. Here is a FA WR (position of obvious need) saying he wants to play in AZ as his first choice. How often does that happen to this organization?

Here is a FA WR (position of serious need) who is taking other trips when it is somewhat clear he would have just preferred to get something done here and get it out of the way. What happens from here is OAK or SF or BAL make him an offer close to the Cards offer and he chooses less money because those other teams have a winning tradition by and large.

Here is a FA WR (position the Cards need to fill and may via first round draft) who is right now head and shoulders above any other WR on the roster and whom I believe could make everyone bascially forget all about Boston...that is how confident I am in Robinson bouncing back this year.

**sigh**

That's great and all - but are we in any position to be gambling with a player that is about to visit to organizations that are heads and tails above ours?
