Saints have offered the Cards the 17th and 18th pick and a conditional #2 (don't know what that means) for the #6 pick. Saints want Trufant and have offered deals to Minnesota and Baltimore as well.

Who would you take at #17 and #18? All the really "Blue-Chip" defensive players would be gone.

That sounds good to me.. I just wish we could have traded with the Jets.. To me having the 17 and 18 would be kind of hard to deal with. You are not going to get the quality of a 13 pick, plus you have back to back picks...

unless leftwich is available and they'd consider taking him, i'd do that deal in a heartbeat. i'm a little confused, so if anyone can help - what does a conditional #2 mean in these terms?

KDUS was just saying that the Cards would owe the Saints a conditional pick next year. No way!

"No." That's what the Saints need to be told.

This team needs top line talent - and it needs to keep that top line talent - I have little enough confidence in our scouting department and personel people as it is - even drafting at 6 - drafting in the late-mid first round - I have no faith in them to get an impact player and that's what we need - sit tight - draft who's there -be it lefty or suggs or Robertson - but do not trade down.

Perhaps if the Cards did trade #6 for #17 & #18, they could then trade back up to #7 using either mid 1st round pick plus something like Thomas Jones. Minnesota needs another back since Bennett is hurt.

Why the hell would we have to give up a 2004 2nd rounder when the Jets gave Chicago their two #1's and that was it. No way......but I would do it in a heart beat without any conditional picks next year

That would be an idiotic trade!

We need tostay put and get one of the BLUE CHIP defensive players on this team!

Yeah baby! Trade #17 and #37 for #7. Grab Suggs, Trufant, Kennedy or Williams, then land Jeff Faine. Woo!! Now we're talking.

Sounds Like

Sounds like we'd need to go after someone like DE Jerome McDougle and WR Taylor Jacobs.........if both Suggs and Leftwich are gone maybe.

It depends on the "conditions"...it may depend upon how well, or poorly, the Cardinals do this year. I wouldn't say it's too far out of the realm of possiblity that the condition would be that if the Cardinals pick was in the top 10 or 15 picks of the second round, #33-#48, that then the pick would go to the Saints.

Throw in our 3rd round next year and I would do it.

Anyway, I'm a bit torn over trading down. You miss on one blue-chip defensive player, but should receive two above-average starters. If they really aren't sold on Suggs, Kennedy etc. - Do it!! Otherwise stay.

Players, who could be around at #18:
One of the trio of DTs Kevin Williams, Jon Sullivan & William Joseph - Sullivan would be awesome.
DT - Ty Warren
DEs - Mcdougal, Kelsay & Haynes
CB - Woolfolk, Davis & Wilson
WR - Washington

The Bears also have a conditional 2nd rounder next year on the line...it's not just this years first involved.
