Like the idea of Kiem being moved up. the nonsense still continues with this whole "whiz rode Warner to all of the success he had." Just remember Warners record with Boldin/Fitz/James/Dockett/Wilson/Dansby was a solid 3-12 until Whiz got here in 2007. Who rode who??????

Whiz never had the magic as an offensive guru. He rode Ben Rothlisberger and the Bus to a SB in Pittsburgh, and rode Warner, Fitz, Boldin, James to the SB try here. Pittsburgh was never an offensive juggernaut under Cower, as they played tough defense with an offense that didn't give the game away.
Not sure if it was Noll or Wiz, but I think it was Wiz who went the "slash" route with Kordell Stewart way back when. (That was pretty creative and a departure from smashmouth).

I've explained that before. The Cards were ready to compete for the playoffs in 2006. Then they had an incredible bad turn of events that just killed the team for several weeks before they turned things around the last half of the season, including a win over the Division Champion Seahawks who advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs that year.

Denny's first two seasons and Warner's first (2004-2005) were spent recovering from the horrendous mess that was the Cardinals from 2000- 2003. I too thought CKW was the man after taking the Cards to the SB but his rep is greatly tarnished in my eyes by looking back at what was built for him and his W-L record since 2009. Only 4 wins over winning teams in 3 years and 18-28 overall.

Correct, Whiz wanted a run first team when he got here and only after Warner proved what he could do did the offense change. Still don't know why it hasn't changed back to run first after Warner retired though.
Did he really want a run first O? When he joined the Steelers their O was changing from a run first to a more balanced team, 2001 44% of plays were passing, 52% in 02 and 54% in 03, with Maddox @ QB. When he became OC in 2004 he lost Maddox in week 2 and was faced w/ playing a rookie QB, so the team went run heavy. Over the 3 yrs as OC in Pitt passing plays increased steadily, 36.7%, 40.8% and 52.72% in 2006. Total yards also improved eah year as well, 16th, 15th and 7th. As Ben improved as a QB he adjusted his offense to the strengths of the personel, like he did when he got here. Seems like he might be, or may have been, more flexible then what many give him credit for.

That was Ron Erhardt and Chan Gailey.

Other then the Monday Night Meltdown, what were the other incredible bad turn of events took place during the 1-8 start? Dont say the Rams game where Warner fumbled the snap on the in game winning FG position, becuase they were only there becuase Bulger did the same thing 3 or 4 plays before. They were never in the games vs Sea, GB and Oak. Were in it for a half against ATL and blew a 10pt 4th qtr lead against KC.

There was that, there was Rackers' missed chip shot to beat the Chiefs two weeks before.

I thought Wiz had the magic as an offensive guru, but now I'm not so sure. I do think he's an excellent organizer, motivator and overall tone-setter,

I agree with most of this but I also think there is something in his style that comes off as vindictive and narrow minded. He sems to bite off his nose to-spite his face with certain players. Especially QBs.

as always- FWIW

based on his discussions people in the building over at Cards HQ

Cards dont want to lose Steve Keim, he believes he will be promoted to GM

Is hearing Graves likely moves on -- maybe some other role in the org

Will ask Whis to give back some personnel power. If he doesnt, Whis will be gone.

Haley is a candidate -- but not a shoo in

I know it isnt much -- but Jurecki is speaking pretty confidently

I normally buy into his informtion as he clearly knows players, managers, etc that none of us have access to. We will have taken a giant step forward if they just get rid of Graves and hire a real GM and give him the GM power and responsibility.

I think taking power from Whiz is the FO's way of hoping Whiz is offended and leaves without collecting paychecks.

It would've tied the game. And it was hardly a chip shot...
2nd-10, KC330:02N. Rackers missed a 51-yard field goal

Lets not forget the improbably good set of events that gave us a 14 pt lead to blow in that one- Matty Boy going 5-5 84yds and 2 TDs in the first 2 series of the game. Looking back this is more amazing then the events of the Meltdown.

if Graves is no longer GM, even though his title is not really the same as with other organization and acquiring players. Hopefully, it would mean the head coach, whoever it may be, would not have power over the front office which to me ends up causing more misses with players than hits.

I will say the Rams game. The Cards had the ball and the game at home and they fumbled it right back and lost. The fact that the Rams had given them a gift actually made things worse.

Why are you talking about the games where the team had given up vs GB and Oakland? (They were also playing a rookie QB. It's an excuse now but not then?) Oakland and Green Bay were bad teams. The Cards don't blow those 3 games and they were most likely looking at being 6-2 coming out of the bye week vs Dallas and I'll wager one of Shane's Doughnuts that they don't lay down vs the Cowboys like they did that season.

Thanks for adding to my opinion. They blew a 10 point 4th quarter lead vs KC due to a series of unfortunate events.

And as I recall, Bryant Johnson dropped a gimme in the end zone that would have been another TD.
