That's great news isn't it?

Sits for the rest of the regular season, maybe ok for the playoffs.

Sprain, not a tear.
Great news in my book considering the alternative

If it was just the mcl yes. The ACL is the part that will cause sitting out for longer imo. A grade 2 sprain is a partial tear..grade 3 is a full tear. Since the mcl kind of protects the acl, the grade 2 mcl is probably much worse than say Larry's given it twisted enough to injure both.

I was hoping mcl 1 or 2 with no other damage. That would set up nice for the playoffs.

I thought tears were in separations, not sprains?

IE I had a grade 3 separation on my clavicle from a mt biking accident and everything was torn. Grade 2 would have been a tear but it was grade to separation, not sprain.

Hell, the Frisco game isn't for 17 more days, if there is a first round bye, this is great news.

What are the categories of the injury?

Dr. Selesnick: As with other sprains, MCL injuries are classified into three grades:

Grade I
Ligaments are stretched and some fibers torn
Minor pain and stiffness
Grade II
Considerable tearing of ligament fibers but not a complete tear
Major pain and tenderness at the inside of the knee
Swelling in some cases
Some joint instability
Grade III
Complete tear of ligament
Considerable pain and tenderness at the inside of the knee
Some swelling
Marked joint instability

This is WAY better than a tear. Just for his future, even if he can't come back this year.

You wear hoping for a tear?

Grade 2 sprain is a partial tear. The significance of the combo with the ACL is why I said crap...signifies a larger partial tear.

The update that the ACL isn't fully torn is encouraging but I'm guessing a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks. Hope to be very wrong.

Yeah that sounds like a 3-4 week injury. Getting a bye is huge.

Hey may actually miss less time than Larry...QB can wear a brace and he doesn't need to run and cut on the knee...If it can withstand 3,5, and 7 step drop backs, he's good to go, IMO.

Shotgun, then he doesn't have to move much to throw high and behind his receivers :)

More info. RT @RapSheet: #Cardinals QB Drew Stanton has a sprained knee and is week to week, per source. Season not believed to be over

Bah....at the very least he will probably need a brace. He is going to be even less mobile. Is this better than a full tear? Sure it is but he is going to be ineffective the rest of the season moving around in the pocket no?

who cares. Stanton on one leg is MILES better then Lindley with two.

playoffs don't start for 21 days. If we end up with the 5 seed and get to play Atlanta and Stanton's healthy, I'm all for that sucker.

First off I don't buy week to week.

Second if true it's a legit Christmas miracle.

Third the absolute smartest thing he did was hop to the sidelines and not try to bear weight right after the injury and risk the full tear.

Fourth this makes a first round bye very, very important.

Fifth, his acl sprain must be incredibly minor.

About the best news we could've hoped for with basically3 wks to rest.

However, My biggest concern is how well he will to throw when he returns because it is his right knee which is his plant foot on passes. That leg allowed a QB to push off & have more velocity on his ball. We shall soon see

So we should be pissed at the Pot Badger last year when he ran off the field? ;)
