Is there an article that I can read more about this?

What about shows like Prison Break 24 or Beauty and the Geek Will I be able to watch them?

every show (sans reality TV) across the board will be effected, so yes, Prison Break and 24 could be shelved, but Geek and a host of other imitators and other reality crap will rule the air waves if there's a prolonged strike.

Lost will be screwed just like every other show.

So Lost wouldn't be on the air, and that's diffferent from now how?

:D

Sure hope they resolve this or I'll be like the kids on the Simpsons out in the sun rubbing my eyes.

What sucks is that Lost most likely will already be in the can too, so it's not like they have any more filming to do. Again, it's simply online revenue, which really means absolutely NO work for the principals for each show--just what the percentage of profits they get.

And in case anybody is curious, there are no profits in the online space. At least, not yet. And that includes all networks. So the problem is that the creatives want money for online air (sort of like syndication), except there is no money for anything online. So even if the studios wanted to pay everyone, there just isn't a mechanism to do so.

Chap, you think they'll have all 16 scripts finished in two weeks? Correct me if I'm wrong (and I certainly could be), but finished episodes that are in the can will still be shown after the writer's strike starts, no?

I'm betting all 16 scripts were finished by mid-summer, if not earlier. This is the PERFECT time for filming in Hawaii, so that's not really surprising if true.

The question about whether finished episodes will air is an interesting question, because since the strike is really about online revenues, would that even affect the way shows are put on television? Wouldn't that just halt all online airings of shows and not tv airings? (Which would suck for me and my job) It's probably a lot more complicated than that, but I'm not sure what the answer is.

From what I understand, they're crunching HARD right now to even get 10 episodes written (I think I even read something where Damon was quoted in an article in the Times a couple days ago about how screwed they'd be along with everyone else).

As far as the second question, I know this - whatever's shot is going on the air for as long as they can until the hiatus. No idea about the on-line stuff, but since there's nothing in the current agreement against it, there's really no legal basis to keep the networks from continuing to run that stuff even if there's a strike.

man, all I know is this could seriously screw with my boss' pilot and my continued employment. At least the Producers backed off of the ridiculous stance they were taking on residuals which had put the complete kabosh on ALL negotiations.
