With scrubs like Victorino and Pagan getting 10+ per year, Upton's value should be off the charts.

Getting rid of him for any reason at this point would be incredibly stupid, even if we get a king's ransom.

Agree...he's gonna rebound next season. He's more valuable to us as a D-Back than any low ball trade offer we'd get for him

If we trade him for Cliff Lee and his bum shoulder... I dunno... it would really make it hard to care about this franchise.

New rumor of the day: 4 team trade. ARZ, CLE, TB, TEX. Big names involved are Upton, Cabrera, Shields. TB is rumored to have interest Bauer who could be part of deal. If ARZ gives up Upton and Bauer and only gets Cabrera and scrub prospects they will look like fools. They should have went after Reyes or stick to demands for one of the TEX SS's.

Forgot to mention that not only is Reyes a total nut-job, the Jays had to dish out $100 Million to get him... They are more NUTS than he is!!

For the price that contracts are going for these days, Upton is actually cheap - no need to unload him for crap.

Hanley Ramirez was the cancer, not Reyes. Only reason Reyes was traded is because Loria is a cheap, lying prick.

Yes, Loria lied to the Miami fans... but, don't kid yourself - Reyes is a whack-job who, now that he's been paid, will steadily decline...

Buster Olney is reporting a deal would include the Diamondbacks and Indians, plus two other clubs, one of those being the Royals.

Asdrubal Cabrera would land in Arizona with common sense suggesting Upton ends up in Cleveland, but Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports tweeted Wednesday afternoon that the Tribe is pushing the Diamondbacks to include lefty Tyler Skaggs rather than Trevor Bauer, so there's clearly a lot more to this and the fourth team appears to be where Upton would land.

Wow that's the absolute worst trade proposal in the world. I don't think even Robert Sarver would consider anything that lopsided

Asdrubal Cabrera is interesting, but not enough. No one knows where his power numbers are going to land. If they're more like this year's 16HR, that's moderate power for a SS. It doesn't replace Upton's numbers. If it's more lik last year's 25, that's great numbers for a SS and you're probably satisfied as long as right field isn't a catastrophe.

There aren't very many major league shortstops that are worth Justin Upton straight up. The chances of even a top prospect becoming one are poor to say the least.

Yep, keep Upton, trade Bauer for Cabrera, and try to get another starter.

I am really starting to get worried. This is going to end up like the Cahill deal where we really overpay for a SS that isn't mentioned among the elite SS in the majors. Bauer or Skaggs + Upton is way to much for Cabrera, please God don't let this happen. I would rather trade Upton to TEX for Olt and a pitching prospect or 2.

Okay, according to article in AZ Republic maybe ARZ is not looking to over pay. Towers conirms deal is multi-team but it doesn't materialize then they could trade directy with CLE for Cabrera and deal either Skaggs or Bauer. I still think that is too much or Cabrera though. It just amazes me how ARZ either did not know Bauer was a head case before drating him ahead of Dylan Bundy & Anthony Rendon or just wanted to save money because they knew he was an easy sign. Now 2 years later they are considering dumping him for an decent offensive SS that it mediocre defensively and is in the last year of his contract so ARZ could lose him after this year. ARZ is just too desperate for a SS, Bauer or Skaggs for Reyes would have been a better deal or they could have had Yunel Escobar for a mid level prospect, TB made out on that deal.

Year before big contract: .337 BA, 181 hits, 7 HR, 44 RBI
1st year of big contract: .287 BA, 184 hits, 11 HR, 57 RBI

He did play in 34 more games last year than the year before but I would hardly say his numbers declined or will decline, his numbers have remained pretty constant throughout his career. Would much rather have him than Cabrera.

I honestly don't know much about Cabrera and how his state of mind compares to Reyes. BUT, I can guarantee you that the vast majority of managers and playersm, if given the choice, would overwhelmingly choose to steer clear of Reyes. He's that much of a douche.

No, they clearly knew Bauer was a headcase, but they expressed confidence they could manage him while allowing him the freedom to do his thing. The real reason they're trading Bauer is because they have a $60 million commitment to Miggy, and Miggy HATES Bauer. I don't think Gibson likes Bauer, either.

Guys, Cabrera is a decent player. The problem is he's probably a VERY GOOD 2nd baseman that most teams would feel obligated to keep at short stop. He was a Gold Glove finalist in 2011, but his actual defensive ability is one of great debate. He makes Sports Center highlight type plays, but the numbers suggest he has sub-par range and makes a lot of errors. YMMV depending on whom you speak with.

His bat is OK for a short stop, too.

Why would they have drafted Bauer in the first place if they weren't willing to put up with him? Everybody knew he was wacky to say the least.

The obvious problem with Bauer is with Montero. Can they make an effective tandem? Montero has real problems calling a game with him in there and maybe he needs to just sit back there and let him get in his own rythem with HIS pitches.

We may never find out, because they may be shopping him as well. Pitty, because he has the tools to be #1.

I know Oakland is thrilled to death with Parker.

Nope... The obvious problem with Bauer is what exists between his ears... assuming there is stuff that actually exists between his ears. ;)

I agree, until he is willing to admit that to himself, he will have issues.
