They why did Woolridge win POY over all these guys? And the biggest reason his ranking lower is due to how he projects to the NBA as a SG at his size. But he still is top 100 nationally unlike Hawkins and I believe is two full years younger than Walker.

Budinger and Hill are gone, Wise is 50/50 probably depending on the coach. I don't care how many fresh bodies we have, if we clutter the roster with marginally talented scholarship players we will only slow down the process of building a championship team.

And just because there's no players with Arizona interest now (not surprising considering we don't have a head coach for next year) that doesn't mean it will be the case in a couple weeks with the right hire.

Because Woolridge is the focal point of his HS team's offense, the article in the AZ Republic stated that he scored all those points because he didn't have the talent around him to help him unlike St. Marys and North HS. Truth is Bejarano & Walker would have made just as good a pick as state POY, I am actually surprised it did not go to Bejarano.

As for your roster comment, who is available (meaning unsigned) that woiuld come in 2009 and have an immediate impact, I am curious. You are banking on the new coach poaching some recruits that have committed to other schools, I said unless our new HC does that we will have to sign some low tier guys to fill out our roster.

Then why didn't U of A or ASU offer him, he is in their own back yard? As for Aldrich U of A actually did offer him as did a bunch of schools including Minnesota where he is from. As far as Royce is concerned you can have him Terrell Stroglin is a guy I am hoping stays in state.

Uh ASU did offer him, so did Georgetown. UofA, UCLA, an Cal were all recruiting him as well.

I'd forgot Aldrich was offered elsewhere. Had to go back and check.

Lastly, I'll trust National Champion Head Coach Bill Self's judgement over message board poster overseascardfan on this one. ;)

There are several jobs already open whose recruits can get out of their LOI's as well as possible several more opening up here in the next couple weeks (including top 20 classes at Oklahoma and Kentucky possibly more). There will be at least ten top 150 players entering the market shortly on top of the guys who still haven't signed. There's more than enough there for a program like Arizona to get three or four solid players instead of poaching local talent from Big Sky And WAC schools.

I don't know who these kids are because recruiting is about connections and I don't know exactly who the next coach is going to be. But I do know that the coach will have recruiting ties that will allow him to be in the mix for elite recruits right away.

I'm sure UCLA was watching him but they had a verbal from Kendall Williams so I don't think they ever seriously recruited Woolridge. His name never came up as a target on UCLA boards.

You do that, that's fine with me, coach Sendek at ASU, and the future HC at U of A.

Not saying your wrong or bashing you but can you enlighten at least me on what jobs are open. It looks like you are saying that Jeff Capel at OU and Billy Gillespie at Kentucky are on their way out, which is the first I've heard of that except I did read somewhere that Gillespie might be on the hot seat. I thought that all the big names signed LOI's on National Signing Day so they cannot reneg, unless they get out of the LOI and sit out a year but hey you might know something I don't.

I'm gonna keep this post in the back of my head and we'll revisit it in a couple years ;) I don't really think you speak for Sendek or the future UofA HC, though.

The rumor is that Gillispie is essentially a done deal they want him out, he wants out. They're just debating the bailout. He never actually signed a contract so there's some dispute on how much UK would owe him if he left.

I think Capel's name is coming up because of the Virginia job since their coach resigned. it's also assume that OU will lose Blake Griffin so there's less incentive for Capel to stay since they wouldn't be nearly as good next year.

We won't, he's going to Memphis. We wouldn't even have a scholly to offer him should we get Stephenson. Seems Wall doesn't like the idea of having to earn his spot or play defense.

From the "out of nowhere" category:

Nominees for the McDonald’s All-American Games were released this week. The annual showcase of the nation's top senior high school basketball players is slated for March 31 at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

The girls tip at 5:30 p.m. ET and the boys follow at 8 p.m.

The list of nominees is long – you can see them all here (PDF).

The game is still two months away, but we've got a few ideas about who should be playing in Columbus. Taking into account play with their high school teams this season, statistical production and team success, MaxPreps has compiled its own mid-season McDonald's All-American Game selections. The top 24 seniors were identified without regard to geographic distribution or position, then slotted into East-West squads with the same factors loosely considered.

Royce Woolridge, 6-3, G, Sunnyslope (Phoenix, Ariz.) – Kansas signee
McCredentials
: Woolridge’s 27.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game make him a player of the year candidate in Arizona along with Hawkins.

^ASU commits Corey Hawkins and Keala King are also on that list, but somewhat surprisingly Daniel Bajerano isn't.
