I hope that isn't the case. If they let him go because he was gay, they had to have known by last season. Weren't the pics released after the season? He still played well and didn't seem like much of a distraction except for the altercation with Dockett, and that looked like it was Dockett's fault

Knowing a guy is gay (which based on what I have read the entire organization knew and was cool - which BTW makes me very proud of the team) is different then being the team for when the first openly gay active NFL player comes out in season. So they dont care perse they just care about the eventual firestorm that comes with it - and believe me it will be HUGE. Look at Tebow as a example and why he hasnt been picked up yet. Its not that the guy cant play a role on the team, you just have to weigh that is it worth the distraction that comes with it. And NFL teams are saying quite obviously we dont want any part of that. NFL teams are control freaks like that.

If it was open that Rhodes was gay last season..... makes me think about the whole Dockett/Rhodes alleged spitting incident and how it was handled. Wasnt Dockett the ONLY guy that was against letting the Jets score? Why spit in Rhodes face then (allegedly)? Certianly spitting on someone is the biggest sign of disrespect you can do to another teammate. Is there something bigger there? And if that did happen why wasnt that a bigger deal? And we all saw how Dockett reacted with the Chris Rix Radio Interview.

I also considered your 2nd paragraph as a possibility last season. But you can't really compare Rhodes to Tebow. They both seem like good enough guys, don't really say much off the field, and should Rhodes be gay, they will both undoubtedly garner a lot of attention that neither they or their organizations asked for/want. But Rhodes is an elite caliber player at his position, Tebow isn't even starting caliber. Teams took chances on the locker-room distractions of Moss/TO/Revis/etc. because they felt their talent level was worth the risk to see what they could add. This organization, right down to individual players, knows what he adds, and aside from DD, nobody seems bothered by him in the slightest

risk:reward ratio? For all we know, the contract could have included a clause that he keeps his off-field "activities" to himself. Who knows...

I like the Dansby deal. He played some good ball in the past few years. The Cards have done a good job picking up some players who will make us a better team. I may have to up my estimate on wins for this year if this keeps up.

complete supposition on your part. just because he wanted to test FA next season and not sign an extension doesn't mean he didn't want to be here.

If he did not want to be here he would not be here. In the end it was his decision. He might just like AZ and want to be here.

That could all be show. Maybe they lowballed him knowing he would walk because they didnt really want to keep him anyway? Who knows.

You can offer a guy and not really want him. Happens all the time.

Yeah man im in no way a Tebow believer but he would be one of the best 53 players on most teams. The reason he isnt on a team right now is because of the circus he brings. Someone would have brought him in by now otherwise. And even if he is that bad, youd be naive to think thats not a consideration when evaluating.
