Just told KTAR

"From Michael Bidwill on down it is our intention that Larry retires a Cardinal"

"He's a Cardinal and will remain a Cardinal"

"Have not had a single conversation with another NFL team about Larry."

"He is the face of the franchise."

Confirmed by Larry's face and body language during the game.

The man isn't going anywhere..... unless it's up to Whisper Rock for more golf on his day off.

The operative word is "intention."

I've heard the same things about Steve Nash before he was traded from the Suns to the Lakers.

It takes both sides for a player to want to retire for a longtime team. Unless Larry wants to help out the Cardinals cap wise in the next 2 years, he will be traded or even released...that's the reality of the situation.

That doesn't make it reality. Thats GM speak and nothing more. Anybody that takes that as gospel should know better. GM's owners say things all the time and then a day a week a month later the complete opposite occurs.

It's reality in the present, which is all we have.

Agreed.

And so do the fans.

Thus it is safe to say there is no definite in this situation and to say so is just blowing smoke.

IMHO, Fitzgerald is not going anywhere.

while I tend to agree with you

but the emphatic nature of what he said makes me think its far less likely that I thought at this time yesterday

A guy who really thinks that he may have to trade the most popular player in the franchise probably mealy mouths some platitudes rather than saying "we want Larry to retire as a Cardinal"

Fitz is not going anywhere this year or next year. After that it's all up in the air.

It's still going to take a willing Fitz to redo his deal & lowering that cap number to stay on board & thinking he's going to be here long term without that is being really naive. His skyrocketing contract handicaps the team on future deals.

You guy do realize others players get cut for those reasons all the time & some of those guys include Levi Brown & Antron Rolle, etc.

There's a lot of understandable skepticism about a franchise that has a track record of not keeping its stars.

This is the same Adam Schefter who was 95% certain that Andy Reid would be named Cardinals' head coach and that 'some NFL people' would be very surprised if Carson Palmer ended up in Arizona. He'll be right about the Cardinals one of these times. Hopefully this isn't it.

I prefer NFLN to ESPN. Their reporting is usually accurate and reliable.

I wish Keim would address his response to Schefter directly. Something like, "You are a hack. You know nothing about the situation. You are making stuff up...again. Kindly go fornicate yourself with a sharp stick."

Not to say that they won't attempt to get creative after this season, but your fearless assertion is countered by Keim speaking on behalf of himself and Michael Bidwill.

Look, I get the skepticism from some people around here. But the crowd reaction to Larry's TD and his 800th catch - with I am sure all/most of us there knowing about Schefter's blabbering earlier, is exactly why he won't be going anywhere. Fitz is the face of the "New Cardinals" and is probably going to wind up the most popular sports figure of all time in Arizona by the time he is done. He's the face of the franchise and heartbeat of the fanbase. Michael Bidwill knows this, and knows he can't afford to lose Fitz. Now, I am sure there is some absurd trade circumstance where it would be done, but we would be talking an absolute fleecing on whoever we traded with.

He ain't goin anywhere.

But all he would do if it was GM speak is say it once, as stated he was emphatic about it and one can take any statement about the future and speak the truth that they do not know but it sure does look like they have no intention to move him. I can take the whole he will be traded statement applying the same truth to the future that it does not mean it will happen. Chill guys, the reality is he is a Cardinal till actions say otherwise :)

Nope it was Adam Schefter...

Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has emerged as a candidate to become the Arizona Cardinals' next head coach, according to team and league sources.

One league source said he was "95 percent" certain Reid will wind up coaching the Cardinals, and multiple sources stated that he could agree to accept the job by the end of the week.

I stand corrected.
