Do I think Keim has talked to other teams about this....no. Do I think that the possibility of it coming up in conversation while eating dinner with someone that would leak it to the media to get other teams ear to the wall...yes Maybe looking to see if someone offers a crazy deal.

Not to say that they won't attempt to get creative after this season, but your fearless assertion is countered by Keim speaking on behalf of himself and Michael Bidwill.

Bottom line...it's still going to take Larry Fitzgerald to agree with a restructuring with the Cardinals, not just the Cardinals wanting to restructure Fitz's mega deal because we all know he's not get $20mil/yr in 2015.

If Fitz calls the Cards bluff & refuses, (which he might given the QB status) we will almost be forced to sell him to the highest bidder or even cut bait. If he leaves it really would suck ass, but IMO the odds are in his favor of leaving given the nightmare at QB we have. :bang:

OK - Granted I'm not exactly a guru full of knowledge on this kind of thing but....

If Fitz were even half-way interested in leaving the Cardinals to get a ring with another team why would he have his agent (Eugene.... Something. A really sharp dresser, BTW) negotiate a contract that would make him so difficult to trade? And why would the Cards agree to signing a guy whose contract $$$$ makes a trade so difficult?

Makes no sense to me.

Then there's the fact that neither of the two Fitzgerald Family Loudmouths (his dad and brother) are tweeting about this. Unless you count Senior's re-tweet of a Tony Dungy tweet saying, "It ain't gonna happen." Judging by their past performance neither of them could resist speaking out on this. (Unless they've said something since this morning when I checked to see if they'd posted anything.)

I don't buy any of the trade talk. I think Fitz signed wanting the bucks AND the chance to lead the Cardinals to the Superbowl (he knew the QB situation was iffy when he re-signed) and NO WAY is Michael going to trade the face of the franchise and the most popular guy in the state. He'd be the most hated man in AZ if he traded Larry. I don't get the "I'm dumb and I like pain" vibe from him.

I think Larry LIKES being being a Cardinal and I think he wants to retire a Cardinal and see his name on the ROH without having to come "back" here with all the attending drama. Unless his entire public persona here is a lie that's just not the kind of man he is. He had the chance to sign with someone else. He chose to stay here. And I think he chose to stay here because he wants to retire a Cardinal as a part of the community. He's looking at his life AFTER football, IMHO. (And I think Michael wants the same. He's Michaels's ticket to "We're relevant. We have Larry.)

cut bait and take the hit is the only option if Larry is not willing....he has a "no trade" clause in his contract.

Look, I get the skepticism from some people around here. But the crowd reaction to Larry's TD and his 800th catch - with I am sure all/most of us there knowing about Schefter's blabbering earlier, is exactly why he won't be going anywhere. Fitz is the face of the "New Cardinals" and is probably going to wind up the most popular sports figure of all time in Arizona by the time he is done. He's the face of the franchise and heartbeat of the fanbase. Michael Bidwill knows this, and knows he can't afford to lose Fitz. Now, I am sure there is some absurd trade circumstance where it would be done, but we would be talking an absolute fleecing on whoever we traded with.

He ain't goin anywhere.

Just to be a fly in the ointment...

I imagine A LOT of fans of the Niners were saying this about Jerry Rice in 98-2000...

I see this bolded part mentioned many times in different threads, but I don't believe that it is correct. I am pretty sure the NLF league office when reviewing the contract made them take that out as they stated it violated the CBA.

Different situation. 16 years with the team, new (and completely inept) ownership, a monster WR on the roster in Owens etc etc etc

Even if he does, it really means nothing if the player agrees to be traded.

That doesn't make it reality. Thats GM speak and nothing more. Anybody that takes that as gospel should know better. GM's owners say things all the time and then a day a week a month later the complete opposite occurs.

A recent example of what Shane said ; Levi is an elite LT , and later on , well we looked at film from 2011 and film from this year and realized we did not have the same player .

One thing we shouldn't do is sell low. Maybe with the bye week and some mediocre defenses coming up Fitz can boost his value a bit more or just show he's worth the money we're paying him and we keep him. I'm on both sides of the fence.

As history shows, the face of the franchise always leaves.
It's just a matter of when.
I would love to see Larry play his entire career as a Cardinal but the history of the NFL says otherwise.

Yep.

In the salary cap era, it rarely happens. I'm afraid, unless the Cards get a young stud QB early in this upcoming draft our worst fears about #11 with come true.

Who knows?

If I had a dollar for every rumor that Larry was going to be traded..... I'd have a nice amount of money.

If I had a dollar for every rumor that the Cards would not keep Larry with a renegotiation or extension.... I'd have some more money.

We've heard rumors about us trading this guy, or dumping his contract, almost every year he has been here.

When it happens, it happens. I'm surely not going to stress over it.

Schefter also said in 2011 that the Cards were going to let Fitz test the free agent market just before signing his 8-year deal. Sounds like he and the four-letter network want Fitz in a bigger more visible market.

This reminds me of Kevin Love of the Timberwolves; an elite player playing for a bottom-feeder team. Many NBA analysts are already planning his future by having him traded to the Lakers or another big market team, as if Minnesota does not deserve to have a player of that caliber in its city.

Wait, that wasnt exactly the same as this situation??? No way. C'mon, the parallels are there. No two situations are ever the same...

Just told KTAR

"From Michael Bidwill on down it is our intention that Larry retires a Cardinal"

"He's a Cardinal and will remain a Cardinal"

"Have not had a single conversation with another NFL team about Larry."

"He is the face of the franchise."

Sounds good to me.

Confirmed by Larry's face and body language during the game.

The man isn't going anywhere..... unless it's up to Whisper Rock for more golf on his day off.

Larry did look very frisky during the game and also appeared very happy to me. I also want to say again what I have said for a long time. Fitz is a very superior blocker. It seems every play whether he is supposed to be part of it or not he is in there effectively blocking. He more or less impedes would be tacklers and does not knock them on their butts but he is more than effective. He does not get much credit for this.

Last week, when these trade rumors were circling, I heard Chris Carter talking about it. He said he and Larry disagree about this... He thinks Larry should move on to a team with an established QB. He said Larry loves playing in Arizona and has no intention of moving on. Chris said although he disagrees with Larry, he expects Larry to rework his contract and retire a Cardinal.

Ultimately, it doesn't mean anything, but I'd love for us to keep Larry. He does more for this franchise than just playing WR. Until we get an Andrew Luck/Peyton Manning type of QB :cough: ain't going to happen :cough: Larry is the only player on the roster that makes the national media follow us. Just my opinion.

Go Cards!!!
