So today Keim had his press conference and when asked about drafting a WR, he said he had to look at future contracts as well as if the person can play outside.

These are the exact reasons I gave for why the Cardinals would take a WR. Fitz is year to year. Kirk up in two years. Kirk can't play outside.

The Cardinals are taking a WR in round 1. I just pray it isnt freaking Ruggs.

It's the Keim's job to keep every other GM thinking all options are open. I wouldn't expect any other answer to this question.

Cards are taking WR CeeDee Lamb. When I predict this just keep this in mind, I'm 77 years old and have been a draftnik for probably 60+ years. Bottom line is I got more misses on the draft by far than anyone on this board. :bang:

I read that really quickly and thought you said you have been a drunk for probably 60+ years.

Reading is FUNdamental.

Chris I disagree that Kirk can’t play outside.

I luv CeeDee the player, but do you really feel he can play outside at the NFL level? I don’t because he lacks the foot speed. He does his damage with RAC.

If they are indeed taking a WR, whom is it you see them taking in rd 1?

I believe Lamb can play outside or in. He’s a solid route runner. He uses the sideline very effectively. Tight coverage doesn’t bother him. He’s now strong enough to typically avoid getting pushed out of bounds. Last year he became an extremely effective receiver regardless of positioning.

If we take a WR at 8 and come the Saturday before game 1 we are talking about question marks on the O-line and how that can hold us back we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

Actually I think Keim gave a huge tell in his press conference and it wasn't a WR.

When Keim talked about the top 4 OT at one point he started listing them off by name. He mentioned Betcon, Wirfs, Thomas, and then for some strange reason he said "The Kid From Alabama".

Why would Keim call Wills "The Kid From Alabama" when he named all of the other tackles. Maybe because subconsciously he was trying to downplay his true feelings about Wills(I mean "The Kid from Alabama"). Hey "that kid from Alabama" is good but not good enough for Keim to remember his name when everyone in the NFL knows that kids name by heart.

He has never done this. He is the most transparent guy when it comes to drafting. I got 2/3rds of the picks right last year and it wasn't because I thought guys like Andy Isabella are good but because it fits the type of player he drafts.

Isabella never crossed my mind at that spot...in hindsight he should have.

I thought you loved Isabella:

I love Isabella. Had him on my twenty to draft.

Blazing fast. I bet we see at least 1 end around with him a game.

I thought he might be our first pick in round 3 so this is where I figured he would go

Then in the tread on who would lead the team in yds/tds

https://www.arizonasportsfans.com/f...ur-team-in-yds-tds-at-wr.306105/#post-3955837

Isabella is my guess

And 2/3 of the draft correct? That can't be right.

Yeesh I must have been drinking with Keim.

Yes there was a contest where you had to pick x number of players you think Keim would draft. I believe you got twenty players to pick. I got 4, which was the winner.

Right now Isabella is 100% a bust. Just like every other time we have drafted small speed guys. Kirk and Brown are the only two decent ones.

I think if KK gets a good enough line to run his offense he'd find ways to get Isabella involved. Isabella's issue is Metcalf and McLaurin look like legit #2 WRs at worst.

What really worries me about Ruggs is Keim just keeps drafting the same damn dude and thinking THIS is the time where it will transform the offense.

John Brown
Chad Williams
JJ Nelson
Any Isabella
Christian Kirk

All in the last 6 years and we have:

Decent player
Total Bust
Bust but drafted low
Likely total bust
Average WR

Yes you did win but only got 2 players correct:

1.How many total players will the Cardinals draft? 11

2.How many trades will we make? 2 trades

3.Will we select more offensive or defensive players? Offense

4.Will we add any 2020 picks through trades? Yes

5.Will we draft Kyler or Not? No trade down

6.Will we trade for a current player from another roster? No

7.Will we trade a current player on our roster to another team? No

8.List 5 positions that we will draft: WR WR OT DL CB

9.List up to 20 players the Cardinals could draft. 1 point for each correct

(I tried to mix in the Keim specials in here with the popular picks)

Kyler Murray
Marquis Brown, AJ Brown, NKeal Harry, Andy Isabella, Darius Slayton,
Irv Smith Jr, Kahele Warring
Kaleb McGary, David Edwards, Greg Little
Quinnen Williams, Dexter Lawrence, Anthony Nelson
Christian Miller, Germaine Pratt
Greedy Williams, Trayvon Mullen, David Long
Jaquan Johnson

It's working for me. And I'm not trying to pile on. Just 2/3 correct sounded way better than I remembered any one doing.

;)

No call me out I actually like it. Now I am wondering why I was certain I got 4 right.

Although I 100% agree..... What if karma is on our side finally.

He finally got the QB right..... What if Ruggs is like a perfect version of Reek without all of the spousal and child abuse? Antonio Brown with his head on straight and a 4.25 motor.

In the end..... I don't want him at 8, but the prospects could be terrifying.

Watching his pre-draft stuff....dont get AB/Hill vibes at all. Seems like a really nice kid.

Dont see the Cards drafting him. But understand Denver wanting their own version of Hill when playing KC.

True.....

He's not as twitchy as they are. Much smoother, seems to almost glide.

His comps are hard. Which is one reason I tend to side with Chris here.

I am a big believer in the sunk cost fallacy but right now the Cardinals have drafted

2014 John Brown Walter Powell
2015 JJ Nelson
2016 0 WR
2017 Chad Williams
2018 Christiam Kirk
2019 Andy Isabella Hakeem Butler Keesan Johnson

6 years and 8 receivers. No receiver from even 3 years ago is still on the team. That's wretched.

Keim MUST make a solid pick at #8. The lower the floor the worse this gets
