per Rotoworld....

Free agent DE Brett Keisel will take a physical for the Cardinals on Tuesday.

The fit makes sense after the Cardinals lost LE Darnell Dockett to a torn ACL on Monday. Keisel, 36 in September, knows coach Bruce Arians from their time together in Pittsburgh. He's stayed in shape and wants to play another season. Keisel registered 29 tackles and four sacks for the Steelers last year.

Looks like we are getting him.....

Keisel would be a good fit. He's a leader and would almost seamlessly replace Dockett. If one thing is certain, this front office doesn't stop working.

i don't think anyone out there at this point will seamlessly replace Dockett, but I'm all for this signing and totally agree that this front office doesn't stop working. previous regime would have been happy to tout the next UDFA DE to step in and Wolf would be all over that player's nuts.

Smart move. Very smart player who will be able to pick up the scheme quickly and do similar things to Dockett. He and Frostee in rotation would make me feel a little better about this.

Nice move, hope he is signable - like to keep a rotation of vets and young guys - more will be injured as the season goes on so we need some experience in our depth.

He's 36 though. Does he still have to power and strength to push the line back?

Ditto... I know Dockett may have lost a 1/2 step or so, but he was always, always a beast against the run in the 9er and Seahawk games - including last year. Who knows what kind of shape Keisel is in and how long it will take for him to get into a rhythm with the rest of the front 7...

Bottom line, there is no "seamless" replacement for Dockett... none. And combined with the loss of Dansby and D-Wasted, our run defense is going to be seriously, seriously challenged... :(

Will he replace Dockett for what 90 has offered? No, but he is as damn close as we are going to get at this point before the season and would be a pretty good pick up and would help a lot :)

Keisel tackle numbers went down alot in 2013. Did he play the whole season?

I have it on good authority that the Cardinals training staff sings Olivia Newton John every time Keim brings one of these guys in for evaluation.

Last year Keisel missed 4 games and only played a few snaps in 1 game because of plantar fasciitis. Hopefully, Keisel is fully healed and ready to go.

Damn he's old

That's what everyone said about Abraham and he played excellent for us. Even if Keisel is slightly worse than Dockett would be, just the depth alone would be huge. Not to mention the experience factor.

Hmmm, not sure why he is saying it won't happen???

Had thought it would make sense for #Cardinals to add DE Brett Keisel & his beard with Dockett out. Just heard: Very unlikely to happen.

maybe he didn't pass his physical... or they realized how old he was. there's a reason he's out there this late before the season starts.
