I am not sure what to think of this guy myself. I guess I am indifferent on him.

According to a lot of various stuff I have seen or heard lately Kolb might be the Cards #1 choice this offseason if the Eagles asking price isn't to high. Note that is just rumors, but lets say its true.

First of all the Eagles price should be high even if they re-sign Vick. They already paid Kolb 10 mill in bonus money so why not just keep him as a really good backup who knows the system for a paltry 1.4 mill in salary for one more season.

So what in everyone opinion would be to much for Kolb.

#5 pick would be out of the question that is for sure.

Would you give up a 2nd rounder?
Would you give up our #5 pick for Kolb and their 1st rounder(TBD)?
Would you give up our #5 pick for Kolb and their 2nd rounder(TBD)?

That is if after going through offseason workouts you don't like a rookie and Kolb signs an extension of course.

I might just have to stick with Cam, Kolb might be too taxed. I would give our 2nd and 3rd.

No more than our 2nd. The kid really hasn't proven much at all and I still think Reid's system is very QB friendly since every QB who has started a game for him has lit it up.

I don't think that the Eagles would want the #5 overall pick unless there's definitely going to be a rookie salary reform in the new CBA (which I don't think is going to happen).

I'd give up the our second rounder and a 4th for Kevin Kolb. I'm not sure that he's a great quarterback, but he's a good enough starter in the NFL, and you're going to have to sign him to a big new deal. Best case scenario he's Matt Schaub 2.0.

DD - Cam Newton isn't going to be on the board when we pick. The Buffalo Bills are going to be all over him.

I've been meaning to bring this up to and if I was a betting man, I would say we end up with Kolb. Likely going to cost us this years Second and maybe next years first or second.

Apparently Cowher - whom knows Wiz well obviously - came out on the Morning show this week and said "look for this to happen"

I have been doing research and if Wiz doesn't want to go with a rookie, (and with the lockout and what another bad season would do to his job prospects) I like Kolb, if the cost wouldn't be prohibative. He seems to always throw for 300 yards in a WC offense and if you remove the last games stats where his best WR was Chad Hall and he played against Dallas's #1's he has a 6-4 TD/INT ratio which while not sparkling, is pretty good.

In terms of available "vet" QB's he def has the most upside and an 3 year Andy Reid tutorial will only help him hit the ground running.

I still draft Cam Newton if available. K9 - Why are you so sure the Bills draft him? He doesn't seem to fit Chan Gaileys offense at all IMO.

If that is the deal, I quit the team forever.

Not giving up #5. I would give up #5 and switch spots with them in the First round yes. Wouldn't do the 2nd rounder trade either.

I would do what alot of teams do and trade the future draft pick (2012). Sure that maybe a bad idea if we stumble again, but we need a QB to win next year and thats a chance I take.

I've read about Gailey wanting Cam very badly as well.
I would hate to see the meltdown on here if the Cards gave up this year's #1 for Kolb.

Doubt it.

First, they are very thin (thinner than us) in their front 7. I would think thats going to be a priority.

Second, they have Fitzpatrick already. Now hes not a household name, but he did throw for 3000 yards and 23 TDs in only 13 games this season. They can afford to roll the dice on him and draft someone later on

If we can trade our 2nd and another pick for Kolb AND still sign Bulger, DREAM OFFSEASON. Spend the 5th overall on Bowers or Quinn and sign me up for next season (or the season after if there is a strike)!

I like kolb a lot. Would give no more than a 2nd though. Wouldn't trade #1s with Philly either.

After reading some Bills stuff, apparently Chan Gailey and Modkins (Buffalos OC) recruited Chrisitan Ponder VERY hard while they were both at GT. Doesn't it seem more feasible they go defense with #3 pick and Ponder in 2nd round?

Anyone got any links on Chan Gailey liking Newton?

We simply have to improve the QB position. I would like us to get a decent Vet and draft the QBOF in rd1 this year. If we trade for Kolb then we will NOT draft a QB in rd1 this year therefore he wouldn't be my first choice.

Needs:

1) QB's
2)Pass rusher
3)LOT
4)SILB
5)TE

If we take care of these 5 then anything else is gravy IMO.
I would address the TE in FA and as I said a Vet QB. Then at least one of the other 3 in FA as well.

Then BPA through the draft knowing that you will be able to fill the remaining needs as the draft unfolds. This of course means a QB at #5. If early assessments are correct then either Gabbert or Newton will fall to us unless the 49ers or ?? trade up to the #4 pick.

As of now it looks like a good OT prospect will be available for us in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Pick one, start him and move Levi into the LG slot. BK and Bridges fight it out for the RT spot and Lutiu and Sendlein are at least servicable at their spots.

Then draft LBers the rest of the way. ;)

I'd offer a second. Maybe throw in a late conditional pick next year.

I might be inclined to offer more if Orton wasn't also being shopped. I think they're the same player.

Kolb was only a second rounder himself. He does not have the body of work to suggest that he has improved his value to that of a first round pick. I'd give up our second, which is about the same pick he was drafted from.

No way you even think about moving the #5 pick, unless they're willing to throw Desean Jackson into the deal, then I do the deal yesterday. But that's never gonna happen.

Just more ammo on why we need to draft a QB in Rd1 this year.

Interesting that of the 12 teams in the playoffs 8 of them have QB's drafted in rd1, 1 in rd2, 1 in rd4, 1 in rd6 and 1 in rd7. The 4 teams that just missed the playoffs all had rd1 QB's.

I coded all QB's taken in rd1 in Green and rd2 in blue.

As Duckjake pointed out 2 of those QB's not taken in rd1 were drafted by the Pats.

Team
W-L
Opp W-L %

1 Carolina 2-14 .574 No QB

2 Denver 4-12 .516 McDanieled!!!! Orton???? Tebow, good luck with that..

3 Buffalo 4-12 .578 No D. Fitzpatrick is okayish to maybe good.

4 Cincinnati 4-12 .582 What happened to Palmer?

5 Arizona 5-11 .465 Scudded, No QB.

6 Cleveland 5-11 .570 Jake Delhomme  Colt shows promise

7 San Francisco 6-10 .488 Samari Miked and Alex Smith.

8 Tennessee 6-10 .508 VY is a headcase.

9 Dallas 6-10 .512 Romo Goodish but hurt and Wade is Wade.

10 Washington 6-10 .516 Simply a mess. McNabb still got it???

11 Houston 6-10 .523 Can't believe Kubiac is keeping his job. Schaub good.

12 Minnesota 6-10 .539 Chilli & Favred

13 Detroit 6-10 .543 Stafford out most of the year.

14 St. Louis 7-9 .449 Huge improvement year over year. Bradford $ ?

15 Miami 7-9 .539 No QB. Henne not so good.

16 Jacksonville 8-8 .453 David Garrard is well okayish

17 New England (from Oakland) 8-8 .469 Campbell is okayish

18 San Diego 9-7 .457 Rivers is money but Turner forgets when the season starts.

19 New York Giants 10-6 .454 Eli is a grade above okayish

20 Tampa Bay 10-6 .479 Freeman is coming on strong and they just missed the playoffs.

*21 Seattle 7-9 .484 Hassleback is okayish at this point. NFC West sucks.

*22 Kansas City 10-6 .414 Cassel is a grade above okayish

*23 Indianapolis 10-6 .473 Manning, enough said.

*24 Philadelphia 10-6 .492 Vick and Kolb, sitting pretty.

*25 Green Bay 10-6 .520 Rodgers is money.

*26 New Orleans 11-5 .469 Brees is money and more.

*27 Chicago 11-5 .473 Cutler looks like head of the class of 06. Goodish.

*28 New York Jets 11-5 .492 Sanchez is a grade above okayish currently

*29 Baltimore 12-4 .484 Flacco is very good.

*30 Pittsburgh 12-4 .500 Big Ben is at least moneyish.

*31 Atlanta 13-3 .484 Ryan is very very good.

*32 New England 14-2 .504 Brady, enough said.

Tale of the tape says: QB in rd1 for the Cards this year. :D

Kolb was only a second rounder himself. He does not have the body of work to suggest that he has improved his value to that of a first round pick. I'd give up our second, which is about the same pick he was drafted from.

Schaub was trade for two second rounders and a 1st round swap. He had even less body of work then Kolb has. Kolb has double the amount of attempts then Schaub did when he was traded.

Where Kolb was drafted has nothing to do with it.

In a sense I agree with you, but I'll bet it DOES factor into the thinking.

It's the starting point-- it's the Eagle's initial investment, and they'll likely want to improve on it.

Still not sure what to think about Kolb in our system. However, I would rather spend our pick on defense and trade our 2nd for Kolb, rather than draft Cam Newton.
