Keystrokes being skipped

For the last couple of weeks my keyboard has been skipping seemingly random keystrokes. Maybe every one in 100 or 150. What might be a reason for this?

It's not the same key, and it's not regular enough that I can pinpoint the ratio.

Ideas?

But I had a brand new MS Mouse show up and do similar odd things. Buttons would 'auto' click without human intervention, even when I was sober.

Took me weeks to figure it out, looks like a microswitch problem. I'd love to be able to prove and get a replacement. Yeah maybe I should call Microsoft ?
