Kick-Ass 2

Release Date: August 16, 2013
Studio: Universal Pictures
Director: Jeff Wadlow
Screenwriter: Jeff Wadlow
Genre: Action, Comedy
MPAA Rating: R (for strong violence, pervasive language, crude and sexual content, and brief nudity)
Website: Facebook

Starring: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Jim Carrey

Plot Summary: Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010's irreverent global hit: "Kick-Ass 2." After Kick-Ass' (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world's first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she's forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world's first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there's only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

They caught lightning in a bottle with the first one, the odds are against that happening again. I'm still going to watch it but it will be with tempered expectations.

With Jim Carrey blasting the movie for being too violent, I think it will be better thant he first.

One month ago Jim Carrey retracted his support for his own film, Kick-Ass 2, citing the "level of violence" onscreen in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Now, with Carrey missing from the Kick-Ass 2 junket, his co-stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are responding to his decision. Watch the video...

Unfortunately that reasoning won't work for me. I typically enjoy movies despite the violence rather than because of it.

I can't stand Jim Carrey. From his days on "In Living Color" to all his crap movies. Biggest no-talent lucky break A-list Hollywood "talent" ever.

Kick-Ass 1 was awesome. I have it on DVD and have watched it at least a dozen times..

Trailer is up at the official site and won't be censored or removed.

Are you freaking kidding me? He has made some of my favorite comedies and In Living Color was pure genius and way ahead of it's time IMO.

I am really looking forward to this sequel. I have to admit like the others above I am a tad skeptical because I agree it was a bit of lightning in a bottle. Seeing a little girl...well kick ass so unexpected. It won't be now that she is older and it has been done before.

I agree about ILC, probably the best sketch comedy of all time IMO. It was so far ahead of it's time that it's still ahead! Either that or we have just regressed. I watch reruns of In Living Color now and I'm like WOW, they could NEVER get away with that now. So funny.

Jim Carey has made some stinkers but he's also made some really funny movies. Sure Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber are ridiculous now, but back then when it came out and I was a teenager, I remember almost falling out of my seat in the theater at some of that stuff.

As for this film. I dont see what the big deal is. Jim Carey just said that he had a change of heart and he apologized to everyone involved and said he doesn't want to promote the film. He didn't organize a boycott or anything extreme like that. Nobody that was going to see Kick-Ass 2 is going to NOT see it because of this.

OK, I'll concede "Liar, Liar" was pretty funny. But other than that it just seems he tries so hard to overact.

That is his signature. Every comedian has one. His was overacting. It is completely intentional. My favorites, Liar Liar, Horton hears a Who (yes it's only voice), Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Man on the Moon, Dumb & Dumber, The Truman Show and Enternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.

He had some other OK stuff. His character in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was pretty funny and his character in this looks good.

As stated before his freaking skits on In Living Color were awesome. I just watched a marathon of that show and I was still laughing my ass off.

I sent Carrey a letter asking if he would give me his proceeds from the movie. I promised to spend it not buying guns.

No response yet.

Loved it. Didn't have the shock value of the first one, but they did a good job advancing the story and developing the characters. And Honestly it sucks that Carey had all those regrets, because he was fantastic in his role. It really wasn't just another Jim Carrey as Jim Carrey, he did a good job.

Great action. Completely stupid unbelievable/delicious stunts and gruesome deaths. Very entertaining.

My one problem... Not to nit pick, but I say this about all movies that do this. I HATE when movies use the Police as collateral damage. I hate it when they do it in any movie with public servants, or soldiers or firemen. Kill all the regular people you want, but when you have the bad guys waste 20 cops in a scene and you dont even make it tragic, it just pisses me off. I know it's just a movie and they aren't really dying and a lot of people hate cops so they think it's funny but I just dont like it. Sorry it's a thing. Guess when you have all the friends and family that I do that served in the Armed forces and as Police officers, you are sensitive about that stuff. Other than that, awesomely entertaining film. Off soapbox now.

this was truly awful.

did you love part one? I love part one but have low expectations for any kind of reboot - Nick cage is dead and I understand what is happening now. Part of its awesomeness was that I had no idea what I was getting in to.
