Does anyone else think our kick coverage, both punts and kickoffs, is not any better than it was last year? I sure don't see it. We've had some great punting, but too many missed first tackles on punt coverage. We caught a break that an official threw a flag on that punt reutrn by Parker that went the distance. And, it seemed like every kickoff went inside the five, but was returned to the 35 or so.

Are we just not athletic enough, or are we breaking down in keeping in our lanes? Whatever the case, this will cost us wins this year if it doesn't get fixed soon.

Kickers were averaging 65 and 71 yds - not bad, the ball is getting to the goal line.

THEN all returns by the Chargers seemed to be about 30 yds.

This is not good. Could only listen to the game last night, so was itpoor hang time, poor coverage, poor tackles - all and more? The kick offs seem to improved , but more needs to be done. The opponent can not be allowed to start beyond the 30.

The kicks and punts were great. Grammatica kicked every one to the 5 yard line. Our problem is the first guys down the field never make the tackles. They are easily just brushed aside and the guys in the rear have to do all the tackling. We need a gunner who can break through downfield blocks and make it to the return man.

Remember that it is preseason - and the special teams in preseason is filled with the people on the verge of being cut to see if they have ANY potential upside. I would expect this to be horrible when you don't want to risk injury to any decent gunners that you do have in one of the highest risk plays of a game.

I think by game 3 we will have a good look at our special teams.

I'm not so sure about that. We've got Dexter Jackson out there on the kickoff team.
