We'll be talking to them today, but honestly, there's not much that's going to come of it for me. I'd have too hard of a time going back and supporting the team when I have to fear getting ejected for the whole game.

I honestly do not see why you had to be ejected. Why didn't they just tell you to stand at the top of the concourse or in the one end zone concourse area that is a standing area the entire game?

Ridiculous that it is all or nothing.

Well, we were pretty incensed... honestly my dad had a snarl on his face and we raised our voices (but really only a little bit, given the scenario). After being told "you can't talk to us that way" by a female guard, we were told we could either exit or be forcefully removed. Of course, with enough time for me to have to be escorted down to pick up my ticket.

Anyways, we're canceling our seats. Hold it down on the MNF game guys. I still hate the 49ers. :? It's been a great 8 years.

Does he have an e-mail contact? Or is it best via mail?

You can laugh but I just wrote the Cardinal's main address. This was during the time he was getting a lot of control of the organization from his dad and the new uniforms were about to come out. I did not expect a response and he did more than once. I think he honestly cares about the fans. I think if someone writes him a letter, a petition with signatures or just all the individual stories...Junior would have a nice meeting (LOL) with the staff responsible for this outrage to the fans cheering for their team. This passion was what he built that stadium for, and I'm sure he would defend it.

My interaction with SAFE stung pretty bad for a good week. I am dissapointed this is an ongoing thing with SAFE. They were asking me to go back to my seat but I was way too butthurt by that point. Did the old school walk out. I haven't been back but I am jonesing already, and I feel the team needs me. :D

Whatever you decide, you got respect from me because I know what it feels like. :raccoon:

That sucks man. Sad to say I can totally relate as I have been in that same situation myself.

In fact after voicing my displeasure to SAFE about the way they are treating long time season ticket holders and Cardinals fans in general that are basically paying their salaries I was actually told "well don't don't come back then..." It's a complete joke.

Thanks for coming to my defense... it'd be one thing if I hadn't ever been to a game before, and didn't know the etiquette, and spent $50 picking up tickets on StubHub for a quick trip. It's another thing altogether when the rest of the section asks about my family and I if one of us can't make the trip, and says they miss us and our cheering.

We'll be talking to them today, but honestly, there's not much that's going to come of it for me. I'd have too hard of a time going back and supporting the team when I have to fear getting ejected for the whole game.
please don't blame and stop supporting the team because of a few poopy employees. Did you request a supervisor or anything?

lol, your dad sounds a lot like mine

IMO, you should have made them forcibly remove you. Have a friend in your section record it. Don't fight, just try to watch the game and make them be the hardass pricks they threatened to be. Then use the video to show the organization. That would have resulted in a lot more attention to the problems at the very least. And I'm sure they'll do more to help

My SAFE story.

Haven't posted here in a long time but I came by just to see what the word on the board was about our Cards, I saw this thread and had to chime in.

I haven't shared this with my Cards fan friends because honestly it's pretty embarrassing but I see I'm not the only one.

I got kicked out of the first game this season (Seattle).

Anyone who knows me knows that I've had season tickets forever with my Dad and we're about as laid back as you can get. I dont get drunk at the games, I dont get in fights, I dont even really enjoy talking smack to other fans, I just go to watch the games and root for my Cardinals.

The shortest version of the story I can muster is this. My Dad is 63 years old and cant do stairs so we sit in the handicapped section. At the Seattle game there were a bunch of drunk Seattle fans standing behind the HC section, there are no seats behind the HC section, it's just the concourse, you're not allowed to stand behind the HC section, there is a white line you are required to be behind, they were not. They were all sloppy drunk and were being real jerks and telling me to sit down cuz I was blocking their view. I told them they weren't even supposed to be standing there but they kept at it. Several other people in the HC section were telling them to go away but they didn't. So I walked over to a SAFE guy, told him what was going on, he came over and asked them to chill out and they immediately started razzing me for "telling on them." Then they started throwing popcorn at us. So a pair of cops were walking by so I got them to come over, SAFE came over, they heard both sides and determined that the bottom line was that I needed to sit down. I kept pointing out that they weren't supposed to be there and the SAFE guy would just inturrupt me and say "We're talking about you."

I was completely baffled and my fellow Cards fans all started barking at the SAFE guy defending me. He then told me that I had gotten everyone all riled up and I needed to leave. Keep in mind that the whole time this is going on the drunk Seattle fans are still there laughing and taunting me and the other Cards fans the whole time.

So they escorted me out. It was insane, humiliating and wrong. I didn't do anything wrong, you can ask anyone. I'm not the kind of guy that gets kicked out of ANYWHERE.

So I emailed the Cardinals, got the canned response that SAFE was just doing their job but I was welcome to come back but I always need to do what the SAFE people tell me to do.

So I'm done. I sold the rest of the season and next year I'll use the money I would spend on tickets to take my kids on vacation.

Wow what the hell is going on out there? I was going to come out for a game this year but not sure it would be worth it. I have been to games here in Tennessee and also in St Louis many times as a visiting fan and had no problems at all. I never even had issues like this at the Meadowlands.

People texting security because someone is standing? People getting asked to leave? If I got tossed for what you guys are describing I would certainly end up arrested as I would go nuts.

Feel bad for you guys.

That is rough man. The fans get upset because they see someone getting wronged and then that someone gets asked to leave for folks getting riled up.

I feel like we are a bunch of dudes, in some old smelly basketball gym, sitting in fold out chairs lined up in a circle....sharing man. :D

I'm seriously thinking about having a tailgate party every Sunday in my driveway. I got the ping pong table, I get some bags going, big TV. And the beer is a lot cheaper at the corner store.

That's messed up. That SAFE guy had it wrong. Did the cops tell you to sit down also?

There needs to be a grievance system set up to resolve these problems. It works in most any scenario if implemented correctly. The Cardinals should have one set up for the fans if they don't. It's just good customer service to resolve problems with a sense of fairness.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago to a friend and very avid cardinal fan. He was being "loud" in the upper deck and people complained. I grabbed him and started to walk him out. He saw a safe person and went to tell him about what happened. I immediately grabbed him but it was too late. The guy had his id and made the determination that he must go. I tried to walk my friend out and was threatened by security that I would be forcibly removed if I did not let me friend basically talk himself into getting kicked out. We rode together. He was forced to leave while I was prevented from leaving with him.

I was so pissed I was boiling inside. I wanted to physically hurt this man and he didn't even realize how close I was to going nuts on him. I was pissed for weeks. I tried to blame my friend mentally, but you guys have proven to me that the place is going to hell.

I didn't go to a game last year. Went to Philly this year. But I may never go again. Call me what you want but I was too close to going to jail for assault.

People who complain about fans in Arizona not supporting their teams....you wonder why the stadium is half empty on Sundays even when it is a "sellout"? S.A.F.E is a big reason why.

S.A.F.E SUCKS!!
I'm fine with never attending a game again.
Those minumum wage hall monitors are a bunch of wanna be cop rejects.
The attitude of "be nice to the visiting fans" is B.S.
Tolerate them, sure. Cater to them? WTF?!?!?!
try that nonsense in Oakland or Philly...

It's so damn embarrassing to see week after week.. more and more opposing fans in the stadiums and you hear them getting louder and louder every year. The more success this team has them more and more likely people are wanting to come out and support this team only to be told to "sit down and shut up" or "just leave or we will force you to leave."

So you sit home and watch the games and constantly hear announcers who say "WOW" "Listen to all the ______ fans here today!" "They really do travel well.."

********! The real fans are staying at home or being silenced because we no longer matter.

Yeah... players are on the field urging you to get louder as others around you are texting safe to get you thrown out. It is nowhere near as fun as it used to be.

I am pissed because half the effing people in that place were either not here or didn't give a crap about the Cardinals or Arizona in general when it came time to vote for that damn stadium. It barely passed for one and secondly there weren't even a million votes on both sides of the referendum. (IIRC)

I am more pissed about this than the damn game yesterday.

Being in Texas, I have been to a number of Texan games. Fans of both sides stand for a majority of the game. Nobody gets thrown out, it is a freaking sporting event filled with passion. This is not a classical concerto in a concert hall. Been to some Saints games, they stand a majority of the time and the thought of someone throwing them out would be considered laughable. If you want to sit, stay home and sit on a couch but even at home I find myself standing :)

Uhhhh. I've been a season ticket holder for 16 years and I remember how bad it was back in the day. We had about 20000 hard core fans showing up at SDS. There is no way you can compare today to what happened back then.

UoP was so loud when the Cardinals kicked that 61 yard field goal yesterday. Don't tell me that the fans had to shut up or be kicked out. I scream at the top of my lungs when the Cardinals are on defense and have never had a problem. Hell the signs in the stadium even tell you to get loud. There is a difference from being loud and being a loud taunter of other people. Those are the people who I've seen SAFE target.

The problem in most of these cases would have been solved simply by listening and complying to the SAFE person in the first place. It appears that you get your one warning and then you are shown the door. I hope people start to heed the warnings from now on.

UUUUUUHMHHHMM.. Maybe you missed my point or failed to understand what I said earlier. Perhaps I was not clear to you. There was no warning. There was no warning. There was no warning.

The guy I was with was trying to get people to yell and get loud for the team. He got told to sit down and shut up by other customers... NOT S.A.F.E.

I took him out to AVOID any confrontation. He went to a SAFE guard to voice his complaint about someone else and HE was told HE was the problem without any investigation.

When I grabbed MY friend to remove him from talking to the muffin headed SAFE guard. I was told to LET HIM GO and essentially LET HIM sink. I was threatened for trying to be a PEACE KEEPER. If you think that warrants me being kicked out so be it.

Oh and BTW.... I was in SDS plenty of Sundays going back to '98... so what?

I was there along with the other 20k fans... never felt threatened... never felt uncomfortable. Had plenty of fun... never had anything remotely as uncomfortable and infuriating as that game in 2010. (or 2009) Call me what you want, but don't give me the holier than thou routine.

Plenty of opposing fans came to visit SDS over the years. Sure it was loud.. Sure there were fights. I for one was never in one nor ever near one. It is pointless in my opinion. I have never felt the need to sock someone at a football game until the night that the very people that are there to keep the peace became worse than anyone who ever yelled an obscenity towards me or in my general direction.

and what? Who cares who texted who? It's a he said she said case. If you think that is ok then more power to you. I for one know damn well what happened that day... so once again. You portray the very attitude that is the problem. Who gives a crap right? So it was one unruly fan... who cares right? SAFE warned us right?

Keep on watching the stands. Keep ignoring the empty seats. It's ok. Everyone that gets kicked out is warned and wrong right?

SDS is to UOP as VMC was/is to AWA/USAA.

The gestapo at UOP is worse, but my friend was told to remain in his seat during garbage time of a meaningless Suns/Bucks game years ago. Stuff that wouldn't have happened at the Madhouse on McDowell.

It's all about the new building and the institution of news rules/etiquette that really do not mesh with the reality of professional sports at all.
