Did anyone get a chance to see this movie over the weekend?

A liked the first one so I figured I would go to see Vol.2. I didn't think it was as good as the first one but it did answer a lot of questions and wrapped up the plot. I am still not sure what the whole point was but I got that feeling with Pulp Fiction also. If nothing else you find out why Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah) wears an eye patch and what the bride's (Uma Thurman) real name is.

Still some nice use of music, black and white, and blocking in the standard QT fashion.

I would give Vol.1 3 of 5 and Vol.2 a 2 of 5 stars.

Saw it opening night - thought it was great and I liked it as much as Vol. 1.

There is one thing that Q does far better than any other writer - write dialogue and monologues for his characters that is outstanding. I love Bill's monologue towards then end when he and The Bride are in his house - it was terrific.

Now we have to wait something like 15 years before Kill Bill 3 comes out...

I saw it yesterday and thought it was good. There isn't as much action as Volume 1, but it's every bit as entertaining.

Finally saw this on Friday...

Totally different style of movie from Volume 1...this one has almost a western feel to it.

Still loved it, great dialog, and still, some of the fighting sequences were awesome despite being less in occurance than in Volume 1.

Thoroughly enjoyed volume II, though volume I was better.

Volume I had more action and a better soundtrack (done by the RZA). Volume II was more storydriven, so I enjoyed it on a different level...

Yeah, I felt like I liked Volume 1 better as well, but it was such a different movie, it's almost hard to judge them together...

I did love the music in the first one.

WHAT? It's one single movie that was cut in half - you guys are acting liking it's two different movies.

Never saw either. I think Q lost his touch a long time ago. Plus he has some weird thing for uma. Her husband must love it!

It is, and it isn't. I think one of the reasons why Q was able to cut the movie in half is that the two halves are very different - different moods, styles, music etc. Both are very good, but they are very distinct.

I agree with you and Mike; it was very appropriate to cut the movie in half, since each volume was very different.

Did the RZA even do the soundtrack for the 2nd volume?

I honestly thought that Kill Bill would be really lame. So I went in with a bias, but I tried to just put aside my biases and try and enjoy them.

And I really like both.

So it's more two movies than it is one - glad to see you have the inside scoop - perhaps you need to inform Quentin of that since that's not what he is saying in his interviews - you may want to straighten him out and let him know that.

No, no one is really saying. It's just that each volume is different.

And BTW it was TWO movies. :p

Well, actually, it is one movie, but done in two volumes. It was filmed as one movie, but during filming, Tarantino was approached by a colleague (can't remember who) that told him how long the movie would be, Quentin went into his quarters for a few hours, and figured out where he'd make the split.

So it IS one movie, but broken into two volumes for the sake of length.

It's the left over Percocet from my back surgery that is floating me along right now...

the numbness is now just starting to leave and I can feel the soreness of my ex-tooth slowly creeping in like an LA morning fog...or it could be the meds...

I don't even know how this is an issue but I will weigh in anyway. :p

Technically it is two movies that tell one story.

Under your reasoning and verbage is the Matrix series two movies instead of three? The last "two movies" were filmed at one time but split and released as two parts.

How about LOTR? One movie or three?

When QT split the content he made it into TWO movies.

LOTR and Matrix were filmed to be seperate movies. Kill Bill was filmed to be one movie, but broken into two after the fact after deciding that they could make more money with two films of around two hours instead of one four hour film. So, it's logical to consider the two Kill Bills as one film while considering LOTR and Matrix movies to be seperate films.

So intentions are more important than results?

Hmmm. OK so he originally intended Kill Bill to be one movie. It was two long so he split it into two movies so that makes it one movie?

From a viewers perspective only, Matrix 2 and 3 were more one movie than Kill Bill 1 and 2 IMO.

I think this argument is hilarious. :)

I agree...and it's not like the movie was just cut in half, it was edited to have an ending (though with nothing really resolved)...

Problem with Matrix 2 &3 is that they were just flat out bad movies. It is hard to top a Movie liek the Matrix, but never in my wildest dreams did I beleive 2 & 3 would be that bad!

I do agree the arguement is hilarious. It is 1 movie- 2 volumes - that tells 1 whole story. Thats the way I see it anyway!

You guys will just have to wait until the 6th version comes out, which will be the entire movie re-edited to be one movie!

Yay!

Man this opens up all kind of semantic and esoteric arguments.

Are a film and a movie the same thing? If it is "filmed" in digital is it even a film or is it a record? Hmmm

Anyway I liked both movies, or both halves of movie, depending on your viewpoint on these riveting questions.

I just watched it. I liked it slightly more than the first movie, I mean volume, or whatever it’s supposed to be called. I was really getting the heebie-jeebies when she was trapped in the casket. I really liked the ending, it was wrapped up very nicely. If you ever have a bunch of time to kill, check out the trivia sections at IMDB for these two, they’re filled with all sorts of interesting stuff.
