Germany captain Joshua Kimmich could have earned more money by leaving Bayern Munich but decided to stay with the Bundesliga leaders because of the whole package.

The 30-year-old penned a new deal on Thursday until 2029. He could have left for free in July.

“I can say yes,” he told the Süddeutsche Zeitung website on Friday when asked if he would have been paid more elsewhere.

“It's about the overall concept,” Kimmich added. ”Money is a factor, of course, but the most important thing for me was the question of prospects on the field.”

There were “concrete alternatives” for the midfielder, who would not name names. Paris Saint-Germain were strongly linked with Kimmich in the media.
