yeah.. given the Horton hire, and the special player Peterson is, if he is on the board and NEwton is off the board I can not see a scenerio where we pass on him... MAYBE if we had hired Butler, but Horten knows the vaule of a special CB, especially one that many are calling the closest thing to Deon to come out in a while...

Kiper's Card Notes per Sando:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/33425/kiper-mock-2-0-thoughts-on-cardinals

5. Arizona Cardinals: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M

Kiper's give: Joey Porter is unlikely to be back, and Miller would represent an immediate pass-rushing upgrade on the edge of Arizona's 3-4 scheme. The Texas A&M standout made his name in 2009 as a sack artist but developed a range of skills in 2010 and has become a complete player. He stands up well against the run and drops into coverage seamlessly.

Sando's take: Kiper had the Cardinals taking Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert in his previous mock. Gabbert was still available at No. 7 in this follow-up mock, and nothing about the Cardinals' quarterback situation has changed in the interim. Arizona did recently hire former Pittsburgh Steelers secondary coach Ray Horton as defensive coordinator. Horton has promised to remake Arizona into an aggressive blitzing team. The Cardinals will need to upgrade their pass-rush talent to make that happen. Adding Miller would qualify as a step in that direction, but who plays quarterback, again?

It's funny that Sando sounds like he doesn't think that Kiper knows what he's talking about. :)

Horton is no longer a DB Coach, and his recent interviews attest that he certainly appreciates the value for the overall "D" of getting to the QB.

Means nothing. Whiz and Grimm emphesized the value of a "home run-hitter" in run game when we were staring at Adrian Peterson at 5... Then we drafted Levi Brown.

How bout Von Miller in the 1st, and Jake Locker in the 2nd?
... and then maybe a Ras-I Dowling in the 3rd?

I have not looked at Miller lately but as I recall I thought he was a bit on the small side to be rated so high. If Gabbert goes to the Redskins then we can be assured McNabb is going somewhere. I prefer Gabbert to Von Miller. Von Miller is not going to be a game changer no matter how good he is. One of those QBs just might be

No thanks to either one. If Peterson is there you don't pass on him. It's tantamount to passing on on the other Peterson on the O side. Don't make another #5 blunder AGAIN!

Locker is all over the place with his accuracy. Much rather have Kaepernick or McElroy.

JJ Watt at #6 WTF?

I'm the biggest Wisconsin Homer I know and I thought Watt was a borderline 1st rounder. #6 over Peterson is absurd.

I want Peterson over Miller but would be extremly happy with either.

Maybe we can trade DA.and hall for some 3 day old donuts, and buy some milk!

Well... it certainly means very little to those pimping this year's Peterson. ;)

I now hate you :slap: (for football) :trout:(for basketball) :D.

Hey we didn't put up 70 on you guys like we did to 3 other schools. It was a really good game. I don't follow Badger basketball until March did we play ASU?

can't remember which bowl game I saw him in but Miller just didn't impress. Looked like he got pushed to the outside way too much and just never applied pressure

Give me Peterson

Agreed. I don't care how good Miller looked in the Senior Bowl, he is UNDERSIZED & will get shut down on the NFL. Peterson is the most talented player in this draft. If we pass on him for another midget LB, I will scream bloody murder!!!

Patrick Peterson, CB at the #5 pick.

I'd take Fairley if he should drop. :D

I worry about the Cardinals drafting linebackers. They had the choice to pick a great LB in Brian Urlacher, but they blew it. Also memories of Buster Davis keep floating around my mind.
