I think it has to be in the top 5, it was truly a magical playoff moment for me.

Kevin Johnson: The Bad Dream (1994)
Whether it's on the playground or in the NBA, big men feel a sense of entitlement to the paint. That's where they operate, where they earn their keep; they cede the rest of the court to the guards, but the precious space inside the key belongs to them. So when little men venture into their turf, the giants usually un-invite them by putting them on the floor. Well, this one was for little guys everywhere. Kevin Johnson-all 6-1 of him-was not going to be denied, especially on this day. After beating Kenny Smith on the left baseline, it was all a Dream for KJ. Hakeem Olajuwon stood in front of the basket waiting to serve up one of his nightly block specials. Johnson didn't knock on the big-man door for entry, he kicked it wide open for passage with this monstrous one-handed number over one of the best centers to ever play.

It was in the final minute of a game the Suns had already lost. My guess is that Olajuwon would have tried a bit harder to stop it had anything been on the line.

Maybe, but I think it surprised him that KJ could elevate like that and it froze him for just a moment and then Kj dinked over him. Great dunk!

That's the reason why I don't understand why so many fans gawk over the dunk. The game was over. The dunk was in scrap time.

Sheesh, you guys are NEVER happy.

Olajuwon attempted to block the shot--there's no question about that, is there?

It was very impressive, no question. But given its irrelevance, it doesn't rate as a "top five" or anything like that for me. No one is criticizing the athleticism.

Sheesh, you guys are NEVER happy.

Apparently not, if you define "happy" to mean "in 100% agreement with any positive thing anyone ever says about the Suns." I wasn't aware that we were constrained to that definition.

Hakeem is a shot blocker. One of the greatest ever. When a lil guy challengers him, he's going to go at him 100%.

If you think he didn't try because the game was over, than thats BS.

:)

The top 5 dunks should be rated as individual dunks and not have anything to do with the circumstance of the game. It's all about the actual dunk.

Then do you count dunks in the dunk contest, or anything that anyone ever did on a playground somewhere?

I don't even remember the circumstances of the game, or who won or lost... I just remember that dunk and jumping out my chair and yelling HOLY SH*T at the age of 13.
