Wow, I even found an article about Amar'e and the Knicks in a Sydney newspaper that usually has something on the NBA once a month or so - and hardly even anything else than LeBron or Kobe.
It'll still be interesting to see what NY will do over the next eight games. If they keep up with those teams, the last critics will stop talking about their easy schedule.

I don't think they'll keep it up. They faced an incredibly easy stretch of games but I still think it's impressive what they've done. They'll still probably struggle to finish above .500 this season but that's a huge improvement over their past several years and Amare is a big part of that success. They've become relevant again and after the free agent dust settled this offseason, very few people thought that was possible.

Being a New Yorker I wouldn't mind seeing a successful Knick franchise.
Having come to Paradise from New Jersey thirty-two years ago, it's been a long time since the last Knicks (second and final) NBA championship, with the most intelligent sports team on the planet.

From their coach (Red Holzman), to the starting lineup of Willis Reed/Dave Debusschere (who had been a White Sox manager at the age of 26 or so)/Senator Dollar Bill Bradley/Clyde Frazier/Earl "The Pearl" Monroe to the bench featuring memory expert Jerry Lucas and future HOF coach Phil Jackson.

When I moved to Phoenix in 1978, the first game I saw was the Knicks vs. Suns at the Madhouse on McDowell. For the first half, I rooted for the Knicks (force of habit). From the second half on, I've been a Suns fan.

That's a cool story.

Amare with one year of a true franchise player experience like he is having now, he would have won us that Game 6 of last year's WCF, where he was frustrated and the team didn't know how to adapt to it with him while Nash was worn down already to be much of good.

As an Amare supporter, it was tough to see him go and then see how well he's doing in NY. But then when I remember the playoffs last year (especially the Laker series), then it's not quite as painful.

I don't they can keep it up, either. But with all the Melo talk going on, Amar'e could have made the right move for him. Surely, those two wouldn't be the elite forward duo from a defensive point-of-view, but offensively... wow!
For me, it's still weird to watch the Knicks play Suns basketball, though. NY has always been famous for their toughness and D, and suddenly they could lead the league in scoring (first Eastern Conference team to do so since Orlando in the mid-nineties?).

This thread is a pretty good indicator of the excitement our current team generates. The subject is another team led by a player that, obviously, no longer plays for us and you have to go back to the middle of July to find a more active thread.

Again, I suggest this thread be moved to the upper chamber where threads go to die under "Other NBA Talk." I can see Knicks talk stretching throughout the season. Personally this is last thing I want to talk about. Amare, D'Antoni and the Suns have moved on. Why can't Suns fans?

Good call. This thread has ran its course. The thread title is ridiculous now. Stoudemire is playing great and so are the Knicks. Congrats.

I think it's pretty funny. Further, I like to keep up with Stat's exploits.

There should be a sister thread: Knicks coming together.

(And keep your filthy thoughts to yourself!)

I grew up in AZ and am now living in NYC. I will be attending the Suns-Knicks game at MSG this year, hopefully I don't undergo a similar conversion.

That's only been acknowledged about a thousand times in this thread. Of course they'll come back down to earth and it will probably happen real soon but who cares. It's not like they pulled these opponents from the Atlantic 10 conference, these are NBA teams that they've beaten and in year's past they couldn't put together this kind of winning streak regardless of opponent.

I've never used the ignore function on the board yet, but I'm getting really tempted...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't think I'll use the ignore function though, I'll just opt to not respond to him in the future (on this subject anyway). BTW, I'm taking for granted that although you quoted me, you were referencing someone else.:).

You are a wise man Steven. I would be disappointed if you didn't read through the lines.

Amare with 17 in first. If only he was 30 percent as aggressive as this in the playoffs we'd be with a trophy right now.

That is why there are phrases like "he is in the zone", "plays drawn", "better defense" and in case you forgot, that same team is the current champion.

(Conspiracy warning) Maybe it's also a case of being allowed to play more aggressively without getting into foul trouble. Being a Knick means you are supposed to play physical while being a Sun will get you into foul trouble rather easily.
