even scarier... gentry on the radio a couple days ago said he was the one who wanted Hedo... we really have no one in that FO who has a flippin' clue as to what they're doing.

As good as gentry's moves looked last year, this year its been one puzzling move after another. Tonight he starts Childress, takes him out after 4 minutes of action and puts in Frye for the next 13 minutes of sh** basketball. Nash looked utterly lost in what to do in the first quarter with that random ass lineup that was thrown out by Gentry. Who starts next game? Dragic at the PF ?

Hedo is why we HAD to get rid of JRich, imho. We made a HUGE mistake sigining him to the contract we did, and had to give up JRich to move him. My next beef is who in the hell will take Josh Childress from us with his $30 million dollar salary? He is not worth half of that at this point. Those were two HORRIBLE signings. If that is how our new GM operates, we are in deep ****! Sarver needs to wake up!!!!

FAILS of the NIGHT Segment:

#1: Gentry starts with Hill on Amare and Childress tipping off. I don't think Miss Cleo would have predicted this one.

#2: Courtesy of Slinslin: "The Polish Layup" Gortat blows two layups on both sides of the rim in the span of a minute or so.

#3: End of 3rd quarter ~ 2 seconds left. Dragic inbounds the ball to Frye at the far end of the court. Rather than heaving a last second cross court heave, Frye passes the ball back to Dragic to protect that ever dropping FG%. That play showed me that this team has closed up shop for the season.

Nash / Dragic
Dudley / Carter
Hill / Childress
Warrick / Frye
Gortat / Lopez

I would stick with this lineup and just ride out the season if no trades are going to be made. Dudley spreads the floor for Nash, Warrick is his P&R partner, and Gortat helps protect the paint.

Carter takes some of the pressure off of Dragic, though I doubt he would enjoy being demoted to a 6th man role. Frye helps spacing with the second unit. Pietrus can chuck terrible shots up during practice for all I care. Keep him on the bench.

Almost agree. I would have this:

Nash/Dragic
Carter/Pietrus
Dudley/Hill
Warrick/Frye
Gortat/Lopez

Looks like Gentry is going to change up starting lineups a lot, but one thing is pretty certain: Grant Hill and Steve Nash will ALWAYS be starters.

Grant Hill is our best defensive player. And, of course, Steve Nash is our playmaker (under the current system). As for the third most important player, we don't have a best rebounder.

Our three key players are our two oldest guys and an invisible one. Good goin', Front Office.

From the top to the bottom of the organization, Sarver has turned this proud franchise into one helluva dysfunctional team.

There were 2 moments in commentary and sidelines interviews last night that were gems.

First is the one quoted earlier in this thread from Mark Jackson about Antoni and the Suns' defense. The second is when Antoni was interviewed between quarters and commented that they are trying to force the Suns to shoot jumpers and wanting to creating mismatches that would force the Suns into bad shots. Move to Gentry after the half and he parrots what the Suns are going to do and it's exactly what Antoni wants them to do. Great stuff.

Yikes.. a blow out loss. I just looked at the box score. Is there any reason why Childress started and Gortat only played 12 mins? Didn't we get Gortat for his "size"??

There is no way a team can gel if Gentry keeps changing line up like that. Why didn't they start Warrick this time or Gortat?

Now what is Gortat going to think after being benched and only played 12mins? At this point, I don't even know if this team has bigger problem in defense or offense because neither is good enough.

What is worse than these games are the stupid fans calling on ktar after the trade and talking about how the Suns made the right decision by letting a poor rebounder, horrible defender and "inconsistent" player in Amare go because he is not worth that money?

Wow please, even if Amare has more micro-fracture surgeries it will never get better because we wasted the same kind of money on Frye, Warrick and Childress and we can already say that is NOT a good trade.

Didn't Suns want to give Amare 3-year max but not 6-year? It's the last 3 years that Suns is worried about. I agree the signing of Hedo and Childress is not good. Hedo is more like a point forward but he needs to have somebody to pass the ball inside to (which we have none since Lopez is very incapable right now). Childress... I don't know what he is good at.

I am not surprised that Amare is playing well this year. He has a lot to prove that he is worth the money BUT if he gets injured again and sits on the bench more than half of the season or the whole season, you'll see why Suns didn't sign him.

Obviously, Amare knows his injury may come back so he needs to secure his future with 6-year max, not 3-year. If Amare really wanted to have champion with Suns, he would have signed 3-year max deal and maybe negotiate another 3-year later. I think Amare made the right choice for himself just like Joe Johnson made one of the best decisions I've seen (super max deal with Hawks!!).

I missed the game mostly because I did not want to see D'Antoni and Amare walk all over the Suns but when I checked the box score I could not believe that Gentry started Childress at Center. Sarver, Babby, Blanks, whoever is running this team should have fired him during the first timeout for that.

Childress a wing player who has been buried on the bench gets to start as our Center?

I haven't given up on Childress. Actually, I feel bad for him.

Whenever he's in the game he seems to make plays. He's great at cutting to the basket, seems to tip a lot of passes, and doesn't really do anything stupid. He looks a lot like Marion, just not as skilled. I'd like to see him get consistent minutes. But then again, what the hell do I know?

Childress is better than Warrick, we go whoa when Warrick makes one of his dunks. Now that the other team knows what he wants to do, it is easier to guard him.
Childress is a smart dude and really believe he will be good coming off the bench for this team.

I am sure he was meant to start at PF to guard Chandler.

Where the stink started was putting Grant on Amare, Gentry should have just started Gortat and put Grant on Chandler would have made more sense.
I do understand their concern that you cant have a 7 footer chasing Chandler around but the solution they came up with was stupid. Childress claimed he had no idea he was starting until 10 minutes before the game.

The idea of putting Hill on Amare was surely due to their inside knowledge that Amare used to hate fronting by active smaller defenders the way Grant did to him. But they just underestimated Amare's ability to adjust, after having more experience dealing with all kind of defenses as a franchise player in NY than he ever got with Suns.

That is not what happened. Gortat was on the floor with midgets who allowed dribble penetration. He got into foul trouble early and that was that. For the rest of the game Gentry was trying to out small ball D'Antoni and went with the mini-me squad to get back into the game. He abandoned trying to go inside after the 1st quarter.

Gentry has lost his fricken mind.

We had our section chanting for Childress in the 4th Q. Only bright spot of the game. He needs to be on the floor more.

It seemed like a good strategy. Amare didn't get many easy looks in the first half. He hit some pretty crazy shots. Hill guarding Amare actually reminded me of Marion guarding Dirk, he didn't have the usual quickness advantage that he does against bigger defenders, but he was able to exploit the height advantage to just shoot over the top.

Gortat the Red has officially become a menthol cigarette, and he's likely to be the first one to be smoked on a nightly basis defending the basket from here on out.

He needs to shut his mouth and do layup drills.
