Boston has the Nets pick this year, and they wouldn't give that up for Tucker but if they have their own pick, McD would insist on that.. ten or eleven slots ahead of #36

I'm not sure if the Celtics own their own pick in the 2017 draft.

They own the Nets picks plus some second round picks as far as I can tell.

Why would they want PJ? They already have two maybe three borderline elite perimeter defenders...

This is from an article by Jay King at MassLive.

Tucker, on an expiring contract, would help shore up Boston's biggest weakness on the defensive glass. He also hits a reasonable percentage from behind the arc (34.7 percent for his career) and strikes a physical presence. Adding him could free Brad Stevens to play huge, versatile bench lineups with Marcus Smart at point guard, Jaylen Brown at shooting guard and Tucker on the wing. Smart and Brown have both bruised opponents in the post and would cause plenty of mismatches in that combination.

They currently own their own pick, but have the right to swap their own pick for Brooklyn's.

I was assuming the Celtics would swap picks with the Nets as they presently own the first pick in the draft. The Celtics presently do not own two first round picks in the 2017 draft if they swap.

The Celtics also own the Nets unconditional first round pick in 2018.

I can't see the Celtics overpaying for Tucker. If interested, perhaps they offer the 36th pick (second round) in the draft or a nebulous first round pick somewhere down the line.
Ryan McDonough always tends to get taken to school when he does deals with Danny Ainge so maybe he should just stop trading with him. Forget the IT trade, even the trade for Wright (who walked as a FA 3 months later) for 2 second rd picks was just bad.

Maybe Ainge feels guilty about the IT trade and he wants to even the score (sarcasm).

Boston had the opportunity to sign IT and wasn't interested IIRC. Nobody thought he'd turn into an elite scorer.

To his credit, McDonough did trade for IT so I think he saw something. Unfortunately the Dragic fiasco set in motion a perfect storm of mistakes.
