A five-year, $70 million dollar contract sounds about right for Knight.

It would be the same type contract the Suns signed Bledsoe, approximately 14 million a season over five seasons for a total of 70 million. I was expecting about this amount.

I don't understand the narrative that people were trying to sell during the Bledsoe trade rumors that he is overpaid, or has a "big" deal.

If we have 2 guards of their caliber for an avg of $14mil per year each, this is a very good thing. Obviously landing a big man FA would really make it perfect, but Love and Gasol aren't going anywhere and I don't know if I can see DeAndre or LeMarcus coming here...

Thoughts ?

The Suns have plans to talk Aldridge and Love to find out if they have any interest and then make a quick decision to find out if they have a realistic chance of signing them. If not, the Suns move on. The names of Gasol or Jordon were not mentioned. Here is how Paul Coro put it.

The Suns would sell building a team around Love, 26, or Aldridge, 29, and playing with a dynamic backcourt, Bledsoe and Knight, and a budding center, 22-year-old Alex Len.

They have to determine quickly whether they are in the mix. Free agency scenarios move fast. If there is no realistic chance at the top players, the Suns do not want their time taken or cap space frozen while other targets move on. The Suns have needs to fill with the frontcourt, shooting and a third point guard.

Thread title changed. I am ok with the signing. When the new TV deal goes in, these, tier 2-3 deals, will be 5-7 Million more.

Plus both will still have trade value, barring multiple injuries.

I heard on the radio today that once Knight officially signs, Bledsoe could be gone within 48 hours. He also said a Knight deal was close and there were two offers being considered for Bledsoe and one of them was with NY. Porzingis could have been made for the Suns and Bargnani could be coming to make the salaries match.

I'd think this would be all over the place if it had merit.

I'd be fine with the deal, the Suns would be a huge question mark and its obviously risky but I like it more than treading water.

If they don't do something that drastic then at the least I want one of the Morris' gone, or both. I don't see how we get the team back on the same page if those 2 are still around pissing in the watering hole.

What was the other offer? I would think NY would have had to take Kaminsky for this deal to have legs. Bargnani is a FA so not sure how he would be included in a deal unless its a S&T. Porzingis can shoot but is going to struggle unless he adds some muscle to his toothpick frame.

They said those would be some of the pieces.

With Coro saying the Suns want to sell top tier FAs on playing with a loaded front court and an up & coming Len at the 5.. I don't see how it adds up that they'll look to trade Bledsoe.

Who knows tho..

Suns can never keep players here anymore. Guess we just need to get used to it

I still believe the Suns would have not drafted Kaminsky at #4.

Maybe #9, but not #4.

I think they were after after someone else. Maybe the Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis for Bledsoe and filler. Maybe more.

If Bledsoe has significant value, I think the Suns are just playing their chips. Bledsoe would be a chip. I never bought the two PG concept after their problems with IT. The Suns intend to add scoring with SGs. The Suns have Granger, Booker and later Bogdan Bogdanovic. Also the Suns have said they want to add a PG to their roster.

Maybe it's hot air, maybe it's not.

Also the Knicks have a rumored unhappy player in Carmelo Anthony who may want Bledsoe at PG. It's hard to know.

Mainstreet makes a good point.

Melo was upset with the pick at first but now is saying he's happy with it. Makes one wonder if there is an understanding that the framework of a deal includes Bledsoe and Porzingis. That would make Melo happy.

I agree. Boston we know was tried to get any of the picks between 4-9 targeting, supposedly, Winslow. The Suns supposedly had talks about #4 and then later #9, but no word of them trying to get up in between. Which makes me pretty certain that they were looking at two different guys in those slots.

Great point. In your opinion, does Knight bring more to the table than Bledsoe? I tend to think so.
