St. Louis Rams: (1-13)

Depth Chart: http://www.stlouisrams.com/Team/DepthCharts/

Team Stats: http://www.nfl.com/teams/st.louisrams/profile?team=STL

Injuries (coming later today): http://www.nfl.com/injuries

Quick Breakdown:

No official decision has been made at quarterback for this week as Kyle Boller returned to practice. Spagnuolo said Null took approximately 70 percent of the reps with Boller taking the other 30. Both players say they are preparing as though they will get the start.

The Rams have Stephen Jackson...................... That's it. That is all I have. James Laurintis is playing very well for a rookie. Chris Long and Leonard Little are having solid seasons. Donnie Avery is a weapon but the Rams' trigger-men in Craig Null and Kyle Boller are not NFL starter material, and with DRC covering Avery the St. Louis passing game is dead in the water. Just look at the team stats, that says it all right there.

Could this become a game ? Sure! This is a trap game sort of setting but without any real consequences if we lose. 10 wins (at least in my opinion) is a secondary goal, to going into the playoffs healthy, and ready to make a run.

I would almost like to see this game played like a preseason game, and for the Cardinals to "work on somethings" that they feel need attention for the playoffs. I think they could do this and still win.

Offense:
The Rams have Stephen Jackson, and the Cardinals need to take the opportunity to sure up their running game, and stop him. After that ? The Cardinals can play to stop the run, and let Kyle Boller or Craig Null shoot themselves in the foot. Success in this game for the Cardinals would be if a lot of substitutes are in by halftime, and there is a 21 pt or better cushion.

All this talk about our defense being questionable after last week is mindless B.S. written by national media hack job writers who didn't watch the game. One big run, one muffed punt. The other 98% of the game the Lions were getting knocked around by our defense who was playing at about 80%. Look for Will Davis to have an impact this week as well.

Defense:
Looking towards the future, the Rams are going to have a good defense. I think Adam Carriker and O.Atogwe going down for the season really hurt the Rams this year. James Laurinitus, and Chris Long are playing well. There are some good pieces in place, and Spagulouno will get a better grip on his situation after a good offseason.

As for Sunday. CHRIS BEANIE WELLS. The Cardinals should run the ball 40 times on Sunday, and I am not joking one bit. All this talk about the Cardinal needing to get there offense on track. Well, the Cardinals have had this problem before. The passing game is out of sync, and without a good runni.......oh yeah, we have a running game now, so lets use it. It is the best way to get your offense clicking again. Primeup that passing attack jet engine by running the rock. Wells and Hightower should run around, over and through the Rams. Making for a short game, and allowing our new front 5 on offense to get in sync.

My Thoughts through 15 weeks:
That we are NFC West Champions again. Screw the national media. They nit-pick this team with a fine tooth comb to help themselves feel better about the fact they look like morons because they were on the Seahawks, or the Niners bandwagons at the beginning of the year. That they still didn't like being shown up last offseason when they were all about calling the Cardinals "The worse playoff team in history." New flash, we won last week. Yeah, if you don't watch the game, and only the national highlights it will look like a close game.....but seriously it wasn't. I saw a push by the Lions after the half and then saw Beanie Wells step on the Lions throat.

The 2009 NFC West Champion Arizona Cardinals, and they are going to the playoffs. To the nation media, from AFSN - CHOKE ON IT.

It has been and up and down season, but the Cardinals are trying to improve constantly. 4 years ago this squad lost 8 games in a row! 3 years ago this squad was 8-8 and missed the playoffs. Last year this team went 9-7, went to the Super bowl. This year we are looking at 10 wins, and another playoff appearance. BUT, this year our team is not happy, why? Because they feel the need to improve. They are no longer happy with going .500 or better, they are no longer happy with being competitive, and they are not even content with just a playoff appearance. This entire organization wants to be an elite organization. From top to bottom. New stadium, new uniforms, new players, new coach, new attitude. We have gone from concerning ourselves with just winning a game, to concerning ourselves with being an consistant elite team.

Think about it. There is no doubt in anyone's mind, even the national sports media mind, that the Cardinals can play with and beat any team in the NFL. The only concern is consistency. The nit-pick, perfectionist complaint of consistently being elite, is an extremely far cry from just needing to win one NFL regular season game.

The next two games are meaningless. Sure, I want the Cardinals to show up both weeks and do their job. Take care of business and play solid football. 10-6 would be great, and 11-5 would be even better, but both fail in comparison to a Lombardi Trophy.

Rug, you've got the right philosophy. Do the job, get a win.

Last year's playoff run didn't start with ATL. It started in Seattle.

The Cardinals know that you can't call on a steam engine to just go, there's some effort to be put into the process and they need to start building heat now, not when the world may think they "need" it.

So I've been looking a lot at ProFootballFocus.com recently.
Fun site with a number of different tracking systems.
I'm not sure how reliable it is, I've not kept track long enough yet.

That said, here are some interesting things about the Rams (according to them):

Null isn't great passing in the center of the field, 4 of his 6 picks have been in that area. The other two were on the left side. His 4 picks were within the first 19 yards from LOS. Could be a big day for anyone playing a 'robber' role in the D.

He seems to be most efficient, or comfortable, throwing to his right. This is good news for DRC, who should see plenty of balls come his way.

Statiscally, Jackson gets his best average following his LG at 5.5 ypc. He may be at his most efficient running between the right side B and C gap. His two fumbles have come when he was rushing to his left. 3 of his 4 TDs have come from bouncing outside.

Little continues to be one of their most consistent and dangerous players. As for most of his career he excels in rushing the passer and is far less adequate at stopping the run.

FA signing Jason Brown looks like their best pass blocker, LT Barron and LG Setterstrom the worst. RT Jason Smith isn't fairing much better.

Neat stuff. I wonder how much of it will hold true.

I see that Little is out. We should really move the ball this week. Only turnovers can keep it close.

GO CARDS...
