Kobe took a chopper to Staples for every home game. Got to wonder if he used the same personal pilot each time...

They said that it's his helicopter. So, yeah, did he have a regular pilot?

He panicked because he couldn't see and tried to improvise without knowing where he was going.
This is a probable explanation. People living in SoCal get so used to the fog of June Gloom
(all year round), it doesn't phase them. Until it is too late. Just like the multi-car accidents
in the blizzards of back East, the midwest and the North.

RIP Kobe. You ripped my heart out many times on the court. Now my heart has been ripped out for the worst of reasons. My thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.

A pic of three of the other victims. They leave a son and a daughter. So sad all around.

I can't confirm it, but there are reports that this wasn't his personal helicopter and not his pilot.

It was his helicopter, that was how the news first started coming out. Someone looked up the downed chopper's serial number and saw it was registered to Kobe.

But, but, the Internet...

Kidding aside, that's more than I can confirm and what you said is a lot more plausible than Kobe choosing to not ride in his personal machine.

If this does not get you choked up, I don't know what would.

Kurt Deetz, a former pilot for Island Express Helicopters who used to fly Bryant in the chopper, said weather conditions were poor in Van Nuys on Sunday morning — “not good at all.”

The crash was more likely caused by bad weather than engine or mechanical issues, he said. “The likelihood of a catastrophic twin engine failure on that aircraft — it just doesn’t happen,” he said.

Judging from a public record of the flight path and the wide debris field, Deetz said that it appears the helicopter was traveling very fast at the time of impact, about 160 mph. After a 40-minute flight, Deetz added, the craft would have had about 800 pounds of fuel on board. “That’s enough to start a pretty big fire,” he said.

You can't make this stuff up. Both took 24 shots and combined for the exact point total of Kobe's most points scored in a game.

Their jerseys also say "81."

They also combined to make 24 shots.

Trae Young shot exactly 81% from the free throw.

They also combined to corral exactly 8 rebounds between the two of them.

Them are some CRAZY coincidences.

Why was the helicopter going 160mph?

Apparently it went into a steep descent after climbing to around 2000 feet, and hit the mountain on the way down. So, not what I had speculated before. Maybe it was a mechanical failure after all.

Evidently he traveled by helicopter to shorten trips when he couldn't fly. His back bothered him so much that long drives in a car were very painful.

Kobe Bryant will be a first-ballot enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2020.

"Expected to be arguably the most epic class ever with Kobe, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett," HOF chairman Jerry Colangelo says. "Kobe will be honored the way he should be."

I liked how BIM didn’t chimed In yet.

I guess if you have nothing positive to say, don’t say nothing at all, right?
