That looked the same as Kobe's to me. But the league doesn't have a "black and white rule" about this. They'll have their gray area and make sure LeBron stays on the court.

Exactly. And that is BS. I'd love to see their argument as to why it is ok there, but not ok in Kobe's case. Playoffs or LeBron, either one is a BS reason.

Granted I'm sure past history on something like this is taken into account because the league almost has to judge intent in this type of scenario, so I'll say if they give LeBron a warning about it then that suffices for right now. I'm pretty sure Kobe was warned about his elbows before he was suspended, so I would hope Lebron would be given the same courtesy.

Doubtful...Lebron had a arm to the throat tackle on Wade shortly after Kobe's suspension that wasn't called flagrant, even though hand to neck is auto-flagrant in this league.

Lebron's warning would have come with his necktie on Wade. And his "warning" would have come on the precedent that was set with Kobe getting popped not once, but twice for the same thing that Lebron just did. Just because it is the playoffs doesn't mean Lebron should skate. Did he NOT hear about the Kobe suspensions? Doubtful, since he says that Kobe is his favorite player...

I did not know about Lebron's previous incidents, so if this is a recurring thing with him too then the league should be consistent with how they treat it.

Regardless, we know nothing will be done because LeBron is the posterboy for the new NBA and they cannot have him missing time in the playoffs. Kind of makes me think if Steve Nash had left the bench in an altercation the league would have found an excuse to not suspend him. They don't want their marketable players running afoul here.

I hope they suspend him for that. I have nothing against LeBron, but after they ignored the impact of the Suns suspensions in the playoffs they better not take "star power" into consideration when they decide in this case. Clearly that did not matter in the other decision, and Stern needs to at least stick to his guns. Plus I agree that was as bad as, if not worse, than Kobe's.

Not that I think this is anything rough...I grew up on 80s bball, but this was simply called a foul, when according to the NBA, any foul to the neck or head is a game suspension and a flagrant. Not reviewed, not called anything but a foul. Definitely to the neck and head.

League won't be consistent...though I think they made the right call in the Suns off the bench, they don't make consistent calls otherwise (this case in point of Kobe and Lebron doing the same move, yet lebron won't get popped for it). That's stupid.

Thanks, that's pretty much my thoughts as well.

I watched the video again and it looks pretty flagrant. I give him some benefit of the doubt since I can't see any facial expressions and such in the video due to its horrible resolution. Like Tim Duncan and Dwyane Wade, he will not be suspended for actions like this unless he gets caught philandering or something.

Also, Kobe did have some history of dangerous moves with his elbow to Mike Miller's throat and probably other things I don't care to remember. He even did the arm flail again, later, against the Raptors. I don't think he got in trouble for that one since it wasn't against the Spurs. Kobe lost his spot as league poster boy, but luckily for you the NBA doesn't play favorites—hehe.

It sure looks to me like LaBron has completed his shot and is on the way down when he hits the guy in the face - which means he gains nothing by doing it. That doesn't mean it isn't intentional but why would he do it with nothing to gain?

Kobe elbowing others in the face has always given him an advantage so its harder to argue his are not intentional - to me his elbows look not only intentional but practiced. (Carmello's do, too.) A while back a Laker fan in here said that Kobe did intentionally flail his arms while shooting in hopes of getting rewarded with a foul call - he claimed that did not make hitting guys in the face with an elbow intentional. That doesn't wash with me, if the flailing is intentional then when it hits someone in the face that is intentional, too. Frankly, if I was a ref any flailing that caused in contact would be a foul on the flailer and a flagrent if contact was above the shoulders. I assume that Kobe is in control of his body and knows what he is doing - and particularly when he is gaining an advantage by his actions.

i'm not sure of lebrons history either - but if it continues he should be suspended - same type of play - frustrated by defenders so you try to send a message to free up room on later plays

the league should wash this out of his (and others) games

A) I'm glad I don't have a Suns fan card. :p

B) It's on youtube, you don't have to watch the incredibly boring basketball currently being played.
