Doesn't Big Ben have the same injury, and he is coming back maybe next week. Kolb had been out for almost 2 months. I'm just saying, if the glove fits wear it.You probably think the same thing with heap. There is reason why people have been calling out people for not playing through injuries.

Ben has a shoulder sprain and one dislocated rib, Kolb had ribs that separated from his sternum, a sprained joint area in his chest and cartilage damage in his ribs, and a sprained shoulder.

But then all injuries are identical.

Hell, if I was Kolb, I would do exactly the same thing, even if I was healthy enough to play. With the way Whiz has handled QB's, (especially his utter failure to even try to improve the likelyhood that they would be less susceptible to injury), ie no help on the O-line, no improvement in running backs, no improvement in TE's or blocking backs. He did not even choose to change his playcalling to help eliminate the dangers to his QB's. Why should any of his QB's want to go back to getting beat up for 4 more games?

Funny how so many guys get injured when their team is 4-8. :?

Ben's injury was much more serious, just ask him.

It's not my preference, but I can see Kolb taking a pay cut and being on the Cards next year. He's going to be taking a pay cut no matter what so why not return to a team where you know the system and have a decent chance at starting? I don't think any team that NEEDS a starting QB, like KC, is going to look to Kolb and give him the job. Kolb's best situation, all around, is probably back in Az.

I totally agree and think that is what is going to happen. Cards will most likely use their first or second round pick on a qb. It depends on who they like and is there when they pick.

He is just being smart quiete frankly! Why go get yourself hurt for an idiot coach that does nothing to help you and hopefully won't be here in a few weeks anyway!

if you really believe this, then he's just a quitter. and it's his JOB to go do this. he's being paid millions of dollars to be on the field. if he's afraid of getting hurt, he should just give the money back, because the notion of above is basically stealing.

Im okay with keeping Kolb or Skelton next year as a backup, and given the choice, I'd rather it be Kolb with a pay cut that makes it possible. But I agree with Phrazbit about Kolb seat-warming for a rookie. Seems unlikely that whatever timetable they have for development will by accelerated due to injury.

We need to totally scrap our QB situation and start over regardless of who our coach is next year.

If it's a new coach, and I at this point expect it will be, then 3 new QB's is a lot more likely.

I doubt that Whiz would have any interest in teaching 3 new QB's his system all at once, but a new coach would be putting in a whole new system anyways so there's less advantage to having an incumbent return.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, in pure Cards fashion we are in this situation in a year where it looks like there is no obvious guy to get. There probably is a QB in the draft, but the odds of us being the one that figures out who the right one is seem pretty slim.

It sounds we could have seen the last of Kolb this year. If he doesn't come back again this season, he will have played in 15 games over the last two years, and he was knocked out in the first quarter in one of them. I'm not questioning his toughness, but relying on him to stay healthy for a full season just doesn't seem realistic anymore.

The time will come when we have to cut the cord with Kolb. Sooner rather than later. Actually, he does not even sound like he would make a good backup. When you need your backup it is likely your starter is injured. Kolb would likely get hurt again and we would be back to our #3 all over again. If he cannot play this year why should we count on him next year for anything? I still would not be surprised to see us go after the SF QB and still draft a QB with our #1. Yes, if we cut Kolb we lose a lot of money. That ship had sailed when we made the trade for him and what is done is now history. He will be 5 years in the NFL next year and what does he have to show for it except a lot of injuries including concussions and a lot of money. I suspect he really would not mind retiring the truth be known. If I were him I sure would consider it with his injury problems. He has enough money now to last him a lifetime so why risk your future health? I am not blaming him for this situation I blame our own organization.

This is really embarrassing for our organization. If you can embarrass them. They need to make some major moves in order to save what ever face they can. Fire who ever it takes and spend all your CAP on the best players you can get. My number one guy to fire is Graves or kick him upstairs if that is not possible and get a real GM. I would do it even if Graves was my brother or father. Firing Whiz seems like a no brainer at this point. We are really the laughing stock of the NFL. We are becoming invisible.

This has been an especially bad year for QB injuries in the NFL. Some speculate that the new rules for protection against concussions are partly responsible. Tacklers are now going for the lower body and knees rather than the head so we have a lot of lower body injuries. For instance Kolb also has serious rib injuries aside from his concussions. Look at all the starting QBs that are now out.

A real question is does he really want to play anymore. If he can get paid for sitting on the bench he will do it. It is time to take the hit and move on without Kolb. 4 years in the NFL is enough time to show you are a real QB or not. You cannot turn a rock into a piece of gold.
