I got carted off by the paramedics after an ankle sprain. They can be incredibly painful. And with a bad enough sprain you can't support your own body weight.
My guess is he'll be out at least two games.
I have sprained my left ankle so many times that, simply stepping off a curb is high risk now! So, I totally get how painful it can be... First time I did it was roughly 30 years ago, playing basketball... Jumped for a rebound and came down on someone else's foot. The popping noise was hideous! Doc said it would've been better had a actually broken the ankle as it would've healed better... A sprain is essentially the ripping away of the ligaments. They never heal as well as broken bones. But, I certainly wasn't carted off... Helped off, but no cart and no air-cast. Given that it's just a sprain, I'm actually a little suprised that Skelton wasn't able to be helped off the field rather than the cart and air-cast...
Nonetheless, after I experienced that first sprain, it took a solid 4 weeks before it felt even remotely close to normal, and 6 weeks before I felt I could step foot on the court again.
'Course, that was 30 years ago... nowadays, pro athletes can come back from such things much more quickly... But still, to be carted off with an air-splint, I gotta believe this was as serious of a sprain as one can have. I just can't see Skelton even suiting up on Sunday, let alone being placed in the back-up position...
I'm thinking that if Kolb goes down (ya never know, someone might bump him in the head again...), it will be Lindley to the rescue...
