ESPN News just reported on TV they are working on a deal.

I'm crying on the inside.

Damn. That is a good move for SA if true.

The arms race continues.

That sucks I like Kurt, I dont think I can even dislike him as a Spur, Lets hope the next move is Mike Miller to the Suns, Suns need to ass some more danger from the 3 with Miller!!

OK, this deal is rapidly approaching DJ AND a #1 for Rick Roby as the worst in franchise history.

At least I like the idea of SA getting KT better than them getting Artest.

Not sure how that helps spurs, oberto is better than kurt and will be ahead of him. So essentially kurt takes elson's spot and they give up barry too? A lateral move if you ask me.

It's definitely an upgrade over what they had on that front line, but according to the article, Thomas is being brought in to counter Yao Ming and Shaq. Does anybody else see the problem here?

Yeah, don't worry, San Antonio. Your 6'9" 235 pound power forward can totally guard a natural center. Everything's completely cool, Spurs. Just keep doing what you're doing!

In Montgomery Burns voice: "Excellent."

uh, it's no different than our thinking was when we brought him here. he was brought in to counter shaq, yao, and duncan. no different. just a bit older.

No more Brent Barry. That guy seemed to make a lot of three pointers against the Suns.

my thinking exactly. i'm gonna be afraid of kt drawing fouls on amare. he knows amare's game like the back of his hand.

knowing amares game and actually having the athleticism to do anything about it are two TOTALLY differnt things.

lets not forget people, amare isnt tim duncan and neither is shaq. kurt cant gaurd either of them.

Now I can quit having that nightmare where the Spurs roll Barry out onto the floor in a wheelchair and he hits a 3 to bury the Suns.

This is really getting interesting now. Did the Spurs make this move because they couldn't get Artest? Did the Artest deal fall apart because of Denver? Because of us? What's next?

The Spurs front office is all about team chemistry, the Artest rumblings were nothing more than a smokescreen for this deal. This isn't Gasol, Shaq, or Kidd but it's moves like this that have helped the Spurs get over the top in recent years.

dang isn't their a big report going on that they are also close to getting Ron Artest? NO way the spurs can get both Artest, and Kurt Thomas right?

And it didn't work out so well for the Suns either. For instance, it's hard to imagine KT as any kind of "Duncan Stopper" after the playoff series Duncan had last year.

I welcome the notion that the Spurs are about to learn the same painful lesson about Thomas' low post defense that the Suns have learned already.

edit: Oh and Houston isn't making any important moves. If they didn't have the guts to move McGrady by now, then they also likewise lack the sense to surround him with playoff-ready pieces. They don't have a swingman stopper, and the undersized combo guards they roll out to try to pull reserve duty at the point are just terrible at it.

I guess what I'm saying is the Rockets need a lot of role players but lack the ability at the bargaining table and the deep pockets to actually get them.

no. The players they were reporting to be using are gone to Seattle now.
