Yup Considering they have similar physical qualities and Anderson has had 4 years of bad coaching and Whitehurst has inarguably had great coaching the last 4 years, I like the unknown of Whitehurst better then Anderson's known flaws. Plus Whitehurst is more accurate then Anderson which to me is a key predicator of future success.

But I like that we won't be giving up a 3rd round pick so its all gravy.

That's just not true. I know Anderson's completion percentage has plummeted but, like Dean Wormer said to D-Day: Charlie Whitehurst...zero point zero...HAS no completion percentage.

im excited to see what Anderson can do with Fitz, Breaston, Doucet and company after seeing him have success with the BROWNS a few years back.

OK I've convinced myself

This is better than signing Whitehurst

Anderson is a former starter and pro bowler. Whitehurst would have been a bigger risk. At least we have an idea of Derek's strengths and weaknesses and Chris Miller might be able to correct some of his in game mistakes.

Also we don't have to give up a draft pick. Right now, it seems that the Cards are less than motivated to fill holes on the defensive side of the ball. Perhaps they are banking on the draft being the solution to our linebacker situation? If this is the motivation, then signing Anderson was the right move.

With that extra pick, the Cards could be thinking about trading up in the draft to take a guy like McClain.

You know this because of Whitehurst's NFL completion % over his 4 years in the league??

lol..

If anything, Anderson's 50-something % is better than Whitehurst's 0%. :D

I do like the signing since we needed a veteran to challenge and back up Matt. I like that we didn't give up a draft pick.

I smile because some can't figure out the real reason why Whitehurst hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL regular season. Expecting the "funny" because he sucks reply.

I think it was Stout who said DA has blemishes. They are more like infected puss spewing sores but he was the best option available today.

Still no guarantee that they won't sign Whitehurst too. I think the FO / coaches really think this is Leinarts last year given his salary bump next year. Whiz could have all 3 compete and may the best man win. My bet is Whitehurst would win that battle. Hopefully he won't go to Seattle because he'll be kicking our arse for the next 8 years.

Might have missed it, but has anyone here made Anderson out to be the next Kurt Warner?

Good, I am okay with DA and very okay with not giving up draft choice for Harold and Kumar go to Whitehurst.

Now stop messing around and sign Joey Porter!

Good signing; plus he will make Matt's accuracy look better! It was tough for Matt playing behind Kurt...
