I was reading this morning that Kurt has already made more completed passes in Arizona than he did with 6 years in St Louis.

I really admire Kurt. I did before we even got him. He is certainly something special and how fortunate we are to have a guy who will surely go into the hall of fame hopefully as an Arizona Cardinal QB. He makes the games fun to watch. For a 38 year old guy to stand in there waiting for a player to get open and taking big hits is courage at its best. He and his family have character and you rarely hear anything but praise for him even from the other teams. Enjoy him while we can as he cannot play forever and it is unlikely our next QB is going to be a Kurt Warner. Players like him do not come along very often. In my mind he is the offensive soul of this team. One game he throws 5 interception and then comes back and throws 5 TD's the next game. He makes no excuses.

Couldn't agree more.

To take it another step, Warner, Fitz and Q, there will never be another trio quite like them.

I, for one, am loving every damn second of it.

There was a great letter to the editor in The Republic written by a woman who spotted Kurt standing with his kids while they waited for the school bus. Classic Kurt. Made me smile.

I've tried to make this point on several occasions here... I believe there are many "fans" who do not fully appreciate and recognize what Kurt has meant to this team.
Just wish he got here sooner!

Just to clarify, players don't go into the Pro Football HOF linked to a particular team. That's baseball.

Also, Warner has a variety of Cardinals items in the HOF already. His association as a Ram is slowly dwindling and by the time it's over I'm sure he will be referred to as Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, who got his start with the Rams. As opposed to Rams QB who finished with the Cardinals.

Do they ever wear a team hat at the hall of fame? I thought I recall seeing one player wearing his team hat but it was a long time ago. You are correct in that it is baseball.

Every year when the CARDINALS play the rams in Louie the old st.louis rams fans that loved Kurt Warner for bringing them there only SuperBowl Championship have started a tradition of wearing a half rams/half CARDINALS jersey.Split right down the middle.

Lots of the rams fans that have moved on and don't care for Kurt Warner due to him not playing for them anymore.(Even if he has a past with them)are really mad at the fans that are gracious and applaud Kurt every year he takes the field at the Ed Jones dome. These fans want the current fans to move on and forget the past

I would think that after Warner retires he will get a day to both stadiums no matter where the rams are at that time(L.A. or St.Louis) and he SHOULD be put in both teams Ring Of Honor.I doubt either team retires his number though.I mean it took the rams till this year before they even retired Deacon Jones' number 75.How silly.I fear Deacon is not long for this world and he's what football is all about. He's my generation.Old School Football.

I realized that in the 1972 Dolphins that had the only perfect season that Earl Morral came in for a Bob Griese and won 11 games of the 17 total they won including the SB.Earl Morral was 38 that year as he was replaced in the NFC Championship game in Pittsburgh by Griese and Griese went on to start in the SB too as they won 14-7 over the George Allen led redskins.

Every year Kurt Warner has started 16 games his team has gone to the SUPERBOWL.I'm only hoping that stat stay's 100% true again this season. We just need to keep players healthy more and get some back that are hurting now.Especially ones that are hurting in the back.(which can be very problematic for those if an older player).I know.I'm very thankfull Billy Bidwill is paying for a team chiropractor that travels with the team and is with them everyday.Thats awesome.

I remember Bledsoe getting injured during the season of the patriots winning the 2001-2002 SB.Tom Brady's first SB victory. If Kurt does happen to go down it would be awesome to see Matt take us to a SB Victory in the same manner.I just don't want to see Kurt Warner get hurt.

Coach WHIZ better come up with something special for the vikings game as we play the best pass rusher besides Dwight Freeney in the league in the Mullet wearing defensive end that is unstoppable JAROD ALLEN.Lets not let Allen end Warners career before it should be over.We can protect Kurt Warner with the right schemes.

If you saw during the Colts/Pats game the schemes that Belichek ran to protect Brady was to have 6 blockers in on every play of the game.Extra offensive lineman an extra TE or RB.Something on every play to help block on Freeney and Mathis.I really liked what he did. After what happened to us on that fatefull Sunday night game with the colts we have to adopt the same kind of scheme when we face the vikes maybe twice(NFC Championship game too). Also maybe the Colts again in Miami.:D

Did someone suggest he would go "into the hall of fame" linked with a particular team?

As far as being generally associated with a team, the fact remains that while Kurt has now completed more passes as a Cardinal than he did as a Ram, he played in 2 Super Bowls and was a Super Bowl winning MVP as a Ram. It's hard to disassociate him from those achievements.
'Course, if he goes on to win the Super Bowl in January, all bets are off!

On one hand, I kinda agree with you.. on the other.. I think the SB win goes a long way in reminding people that he was first and foremost a Ram.

We can put this one to rest when he wins the SB this season. :D

He went to 2 Superbowls with the Rams and won one of them. Unless he wins a Superbowl with the Cards his Rams career will always overshadow his Cardinal one. Except for us Cardinals fans of course.

Kurt Warner already has at least 2 ARIZONA CARDINAL jerseys in the HALL OF FAME. That will go a very long way to remind anyone that needs to know that he led this team in a big way.A team that won't be easily forgotten once this and next year are in the stat books and all the records are written down.

The rams will just be part one of a much longer story. With a much happier ending.:DKURT looks GREAT IN RED.I'll be in Canton that day in RED.I think after this and next year if all goes to Whiz' plan nobody EVER forgets Kurt Warner is a CARDINAL.He just started as a ram.

I don't disagree but I think Warner may be more cleanly linked to the Cardinals whereas his Rams days are all about the GSOT, Mike Martz, Dick Vermeil, Marshall Faulk...as good a story as that Cinderella 1999 season was, I think the negative stigma of Martz, losing XXXVI, Warner's quick demise and messy departure...more games and playing time as a Cardinal may prevail.

Good call on the messy divorce and the almost team mutiny on Kurt after the opening game of the season in New York and his concussion where he had to spend the night in N.Y. while the team flew home without him and the team went off on him in the lockeroom. He did'nt have Ike stand up for him or his best friend at tight end who was signed by the saints in the offseason. One of the strongest players on the team who would have stopped the Turley led revolt.Only a few know the details about this and they were read on the Dumpmartz.com website that was there for many, many years.

Every player management person.Even owner is now gone from that team except for one player in marc bulger. Not one offensive lineman or defensive player is left.Torry Holt and Orlando pace were two of the last to leave that gsot team.Too many wasted picks in the draft by martz and too many bad signings of other players like Kyle Turley who turned out to be a nightmare for them.

Kurt Warner is so glad to be an ARIZONA CARDINAL he thanks GOD everyday he wakes up.No doubt about it.Superbowls are'nt everything. What this team has done and come from is almost more of an accomplishment than what was done in louie.Even though they were 4-12 the year before they won it all.

Coach Whiz has really got to get a ton of the credit for what he has done for Kurt in coaching him back up like he did and making him work hard with the gloves and TRYING to take better care of the ball and also working with his new group of all world recievers in Boldin and Fitzgerald and maybe Breaston. Its time Shelly Berman comes up with a nickname to fit the CARDINALS now that we've got the Beanie to go with our passing game.Maybe only winning the SB will get us that name.So be it.:)

Dude, who are you? Seriously? Some of your posts are off-the-charts insigtful. You put Mitch, Harry, and the lot of them (i say them because i certainly don't include myself in the top echelon of posters here) to shame.

Keep it coming...

Are you Dick Vermeil? Just asking. :D

Thankyou very much Red Desert...That was over the top nice with posters like Joe schmo and shane and Mitch and about 40 others that seriously are message board treasures.I'm not even liked around here. Many have me on ignore.I'm just trying for a second chance and asking bygones be bygones.

My know it all attitude along with meds, pain and just not thinking before I posted has me in some hot water with many I'd like to repair things with.I just think the CARDINALS have something really special and this could be a year to remember for everyone here now thats a part of it.If only injuries could slow down. Our Injury report is WAY TOO LONG...We need tons of prayer except we got great news today with Gerald Hayes back to full practice while Chike Okeafor did not practice again for another day.GOD Bless him and his back.Iwebema had a full practice and so did Ben Patrick so that has to be a major blessing we can say thanks for.

A-Dub had a full practice with his tweeked groin and we've got quite a few players that are on Limited practice that I think Coach Whiz is just being very, very carefull with. The coach is the BEST.He knows what he is doing and if we need more help than Berry can give this week,I'm sure him and Coach Davis have a plan to keep contain on the outside and also players from running out of gas on defense, like last week.

Its gonna be a very hard game as all are in the NFL.Even if the rams are 1-8 they are gonna bring it with coach Spags and they just lost their rookie DE for the year on IR from last weeks game.Already with all four DL banged up from last week. The secondary is getting healthy though. They are back together for 3 weeks now and gave the saints everything they could have asked for and more.Old rivals die slow, even if the rams players are too young to remember.

If you were'nt pulling my chain I thank you seriously for your compliment.:DI hope they let me stay here for a very, very long time.

Not pulling your chain at all. There are too few posters on this board anymore that enlighten and educate (certainly not me), so I appreciate what you have to share. Shane, joeshmoe, etc... top notch posters. You add something, like the above mentioned folks. Thanks.

The real question is how long after Kurt retires will it take before his story is made into a Disney motion picture?? I see Ben Affleck playing Kurt.

I certainly wonder if they'll make a movie some day. It would be kind of cool I guess and it has been mentioned a gazillion times but I just don't know if they'll actually do it.

I'd rather see Clooney in the role, not that Warner and he are twins, but Clooney is such a better actor than Affleck.

Kurt has to win a superbowl before outside people will start thinking him of a Cardinal who started with the Rams. but I am SICK of people on the outside saying that he "may be" a future hall of famer. He is the definition of a hall of fame player. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

Red,----I really want to thank you for coaxing that story about Kurt Warner out of Doug. Sometime back, Doug and I were going back and forth on KW, and I, (quite foolishly), hung the Prima Donna tag on him. Doug was quick to point out how wrong I was,---and he alluded then, that if I only know the story about what happened in St. Louis, that I would never have made such a statement. He was correct of course, and I have appologized to him, but until now I never knew the story. While I was aware of the concussion problems, I never knew about the locker room lynching. That must have been terrible to endure after laying his very career on the line for those guys.

I also want to thank Doug for telling this story----and to sincerely apologize again to him for my slight against KW. I only wish I had the opportunity to apologize to KW myself. I know what it feels like to have a career jerked out from under you, and to have colleagues and friends turn their backs on you. Even though I try very hard to make correct assessments of my observations, I don't always get it right. This is one case where I was over the top wrong. For that, I owe KW my deepest apology.

I love that guys like you, Doug, Mitch, CarDan, DuckJake, Muffin and many others are willing to bare their souls on this board. None of us are always correct, but ALL I feel, are truthful in their beliefs. I have never played this game, or coached it, or managed any personnel in it. Therefore I have had to rely on observations to form my opinions. I feel that many of us here are forced to do the same. It is that very discussion on this board that I love. I can't tell you how much I have learned in my years of lurking on this board. God willing, I will have many more of them. Yes, I will probably make wrong conclusions again, but I am not one to refuse to change my assessment when shown otherwise.

Thanks again to you, Red Desert, for coaxing the story from Doug, and to Doug for telling it. Both of you mean a great deal to me. Catfish

I think last year's playoff run to the Super Bowl removed any doubt about his Hall of Fame credentials. Maybe he'll go in with Aeneas. :)

That's one ceremony I'll tune in for.

Agreed...Kurt along with Whiz are the two biggest reasons that Arizona Cardinals football are relevant. It's amazing that throughout his time here, so many people have wanted to write him off and want to get rid of him at every turn.

The bottom line is, when given adequate time, there has almost never been a more accurate passer than Kurt, and he's still one of the most if not the most accurate qb in football. It's a shame that more people don't appreciate it.

I think a great example of his accuracy was his throw to Larry Fitzgerald for a TD last Sunday. He threw it to the back shoulder which made it impossible for a defender to get even near the ball. Of course he was throwing to the best receiver in the NFL and they tend to read each others minds. Often people take for granted there great players and when they have a bad game forget all the good games. Kurt may very well be the best QB in Cardinal history. I sure liked Jim Hart and Johnson and some of the older QB's in the late 40's but they do not measure up to Kurt. I really admired him in St Louis when he had the greatest show on earth. To think he was never drafted is hard to believe. I hope this is not his last year but it very well could be. It is going to take Matt at least a year to round into shape and for us to find out if he is our real QB of the future. We sure will be in a world of hurt if he is not. We would end up doing what we did for a long time. Going our and signing an older washed up QB. Of course New York thought he was washed up when in fact he is a much superior QB Manning who is struggling now. We got very lucky when we signed him. He needs to stay healthy for the rest of the year. With his fast delivery he is better than most avoiding the big hit. But he also does not get happy feet and will take the big hit when necessary. At 38 the big hits take their toll and he will not give in. That is in his nature. If we continue to have a good year and he stays healthy. I think he will play another year. In the meantime Matt better be getting prepared as it want be long until he is the man and he is not going to be a Kurt Warner (I think). Enjoy this year guys as we are nearing an end of an era with Kurt. Our new coach is going to keep this team up there and when Kurt leaves we may live on the run if Matt is not that good. Our OL has now been together for nearly two years. Our defensive backs are in good shape. We need to resign our star defensive linebacker and the other good defensive players. Keep the good solid core together. The Bidwills should be making good money now and realize that spending to keep good player only enhances their profits. We will soon enough no longer be the laughing stock of the NFL. No longer do we play in an aging stadium in 100+ weather but have one of the best stadiums in the NFL. AZ is a good place to live. Free agent NFL players are likely to look very favorably to coming to AZ and play for a Ken Whiz. We still do not get the respect we should from the NFL announcers. They give the Giants twice the coverage we get and yet we are a better team. We need to continue to win our division and make it deep into the playoffs. It is a tall mountain to climb but we can see the top.

Since Kurt's emergence in St. Louis was such a surprise, I think some were tempted to view him as a flash in the pan, and were willing to accept his sudden demise as a starter. Also, since Bulger played well initially, it was easy to label Kurt's success as a product of the system, of Martz, of having Bruce/Holt/Faulk etc. Also, with Brady's emergence after Bledsoe's injury, people thought it could happen again, even though Warner and Brady are the best QBs of the four. Then Kurt went to the Giants, which was frankly the wrong situation for him, outside in the northeast in a run-first offense with Hilliard, Toomer, and Shockey as his primary weapons (though Barber did become an all-purpose threat in the Faulk vein).

Then the fans critical of the signing in Arizona were thinking that we'd be getting the NY Kurt, and pleasantly, we've ended up with the St. Louis Kurt. But that's because the Cards resemble the '99 Rams more than the Giants did. Kurt's bad games still tend to be terrible, but it's always been that game. His good games still tend to be pretty spectacular.
