Cards are near the top of the waiver line, and while I expect nothing to happen, Orton would be a better option than anything on our roster. Think the FO will even consider Orton?

He's who we should have gotten in the first place, IMO. He's a cheaper Kolb.

Virtually guarantee KC gets him.

If the Colts dont make an attempt at him, then they should be called out for purposely going after Luck (making no attempt to get better).

I don't see how he fits in the 'system' now.

The Denver Broncos waived quarterback Kyle Orton on Tuesday, an NFL source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

With the emergence of Tim Tebow, Denver felt it wouldn't play Orton for the remainder of the season. Thus it decided to waive him now to see if another team would claim the $2.5 million remaining on his contract.

The Houston Texans, Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs are among teams that have recently suffered significant injuries to their starting quarterback.

Graves probably won't be done with the back nine before the waiver claim deadline passes anyway. Even if he is, he still has to stop by Edwin Watts Golf to try out a new driver and pick up some tees and balls. Thus, no chance we claim Orton. We already missed out on Tashard Choice because Graves was getting fitted for some new irons and getting the spikes replaced in his shoes.

Never wanted Orton and still don't.

Maybe if we had 2 QBs on IR I would consider him. Kind of wierd that Denver would cut him mid season but I guess they are trying to save money.

I'd rather the Cardinals use that money on re-signing Campbell

The only teams he has any value to are the couple of team making a playoff push who lost their starters recently. He's not good enough to help us run the table and make the playoffs and he's not good enough to be our long term solution at QB so there's no reason to bring him in at this point.

They are not saving any money, they are on the hook if he isn't picked up. I am sure this was Orton's agent's pleading with him to get a look with one of these teams that are now in need of a QB. He could go through unclaimed, Denver would have to eat the remaining contract, then sign as a free agent for less than the 2.5.

Their best and only hope is that some desperate team picks him up. It's the only way they can get him off the books.

I hope he goes to Chicago simply for the full circle awkwardness of coming in and replacing the injured QB who the team replaced him with.

If Orton came in and outplayed Kolb, the Cards would look like morons for not trading for Orton in the first place. I doubt Whis/Graves would take that chance.

Maybe in draft compensation, but not in contract extension.

What scared Miami away from Orton in the offseason and even after Henne went down wasn't the draft compensation, it was the demand that Orton was making for a new deal.

If the extension wasn't more than what Kolb got, it would've been comparable.

.

It's the draft compensation and probowl cb that made the Kolb deal a bitter pill to swallow...at least for me. We have plenty of cap room--even with Fitzgerald and kolbs deals.

What would be the point at this time? They're 0-10 and would Orton be that much of an improvement over Collins or Painter anyway?
