I don't know if this is a sore subject for Card's fans but this guy was playing his heart out in the pro-bowl. I don't know if it was a case of everyone else being on cruise control and him going overboard or if he was really that good, but he put on quite a show.

Someone on a different board said that he is a free agent this year, if so, would the Card's want him back? I thought that I heard that Green didn't like him?

He was offered a contract last offseason, but knew he would be expected to back up Okeafor and Berry. So, Green liked him enough to want him back. No one knew he would bust out this year to the extent he did. Cannot blame KVB for leaving either, he got his shot and made the most of it. Most of us are glad for him.

I doubt the Cards make a run at him though. Defensive end is a pretty solid position for us. Berry, Okeafor, Pace and Smith all played fairly well when they got on the field. We need to spend our money on DTs and olinemen before we cut a big free agent check to a DE.

As goog as KVB played it's hard to argue that Bert isn't a better player at that left end spot. I came down hard on KVB and his spporters, and i'm glad to say that I was wrong.

I always liked KVB and wondered what kind of player he might be if he could ever make it through a whole season healthy. 12.5 sacks in 2005 is awesome, but that's still only averaging 3.3 per season. I wish him continued success, but it won't be with the Cards.

KVB is a strange situation. He had plenty of shots here in Arizona. I watched a lot of games where he didn't do much. Sometimes a change in scenery is what is needed.

Always liked his energy and enthusiasum. Good team guy. Had a healthy season and broke out. He has a non stop motor. To bad he had the injuries , I own his jersey. Wish him the very best.

If KVB had stayed with the Cards we may have not signed one of the ends we now have and signed a RB, CB, or whatever who was good. You never really know the down stream consequences of having a good guy depart the team. My thought is that coaches sometimes need not let their judgement be clouded by their personal feelings about a particular players. Lots of successful coaches coach guys they have to personally dislike. I have no stats to back this up but is my feeling that over the years the Cards have lost many more good players than most teams which is one of the reasons for our continued failure. Some have left on their own and others have been fired or just let go. We never have seemed to learn from our past mistakes.

KVB was never 100% healthy during his entire Cardinal tenure, with the execption of his rookie season prior to the first knee injury.

Knee injuries of the nature which Vanden Bosch had can cause two lost seasons; the season missed when injured and the following season when back and playing but not 100% recovered in terms of strength, speed and confidence. In KVB's case he had an initial injury (season lost + following season at less than 100%) and then, the third year when he might have had a strong season, he went down again with another knee injury (season lost + following season, his last with the Cardinals at less than 100%). Last year with the Titans was his second year back following the second knee surjury and finally he was at 100% of potential.

KVB's situation had nothing to do with "scenery" and everything to do with health.

Cardinals made him an offer, Titans, who were more desparate for a starter made a better offer.

A couple of other thoughts on KVB. The injuries, which were pointed out, are obviously key to his productivity but what about his DC. Wasn't Marmie the DC for most of KVB's time in Arizona? If so, the correlation between Marmie's scheme and the lack of production from DE's might be telling. The last two years, with Marmie at DC in St. Louis, Leonard Little has gone from a pro bowler to virtually non-existant. This is perhaps a bit too linear of a thought process, but I think it's more than coincidence.

Just to switch gears a little, speaking of reuniting players who the Cardinals let go and then they became successful, what about Michael Pittman? He's on the way out of TB. RB by committe? I don't like that particular style a whole lot but if the Card's bring in a feature back(James/Alexander) they're basically going to negate having Shipp and Arrington. Do those guys just get cut? Arrington can't really do much (too small for special teams or blocking back)else.

Pittman has a history of beating the tar out of his ex. He wouldn't be welcomed back to the desert by either the FO or fans.

I can understand that, and I prefer to have high character guy's as well. I don't really know anything about Pittman personally so I'll just have to take your word on that one. I don't really expect Arizona to reunite with him, just throwing out the possibility of picking up a quality starter if none of the big name guy's don't materialize. Anthony Thomas is another rb that's floating around out there with fresh legs and a desire to play. He may not fit, but I think he's still got a lot left in the tank after not getting many carries the last couple of years.

I'd much rather have the A-Train than Pittman. I don't think Thomas could ever be a decent feature back. But maybe he'd be a good short yardage back for us. Right now Ayandbedejo (sp) is our short yardage back. An upgrade should be in order.

I think your observations have a lot of merit. Schemes and how a DC chooses to use his players clearly will have an effect on their production.

This is a guy who I thought was done. If I were another team, I still wouldn't break the bank on him, because of that injury history, but good for him for doing well. He simply never proved he could be the healthy player he needed to be in the desert. That said, I hope he goes on to a long career.

Good job comming off of 2 career-threatening injuries and making it to the pro-bowl!

I'm glad he is doing well. We got a very good replacement in BB and KVB has had problems stayin healthy. If he is past that then more power to him, if not we have BB.

Someone would have a hard time convincing me that Okeafor is better than KVB. More durable, yes. But KVB is a better player when healthy.

Maybe so but the reality is that he wasn't healthy while he was here.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. He has had one good, healthy season so far

Good player, if he stays healthy a great player and I wish him well

I just didn't know the circumstances under which he was let go. There's been enough talk about ex-Cardinals who've gone on to success with other teams that I wasn't sure if KVB would fall under that category. Like "we let another one get away!".
