Any word on Milton Bradley moving out of CF or will he go postal if Fins goes to LA?

Milton Bradley will be moved to left field if the deal for Fins goes through.

Nobody knows but Milton whether or not he will go postal when they get Finley. My guess would be yes :)

Bidding wars for Finley. A possible blockbuster for RJ (don't think we've heard the last from the BoSox and Yankees). Even Joe Jr can't screw this one up. Demand Tankersley and Nady for Fins.

Dodgers trade Lo Duca
in 6-player blockbuster
With Big Unit as ultimate target,
L.A. gets Penny, Choi, Murphy
from Marlins for Encarnacion, Mota
The Dodgers acquired Brad Penny from the Marlins on Friday in a six-player trade. Los Angeles reportedly want to deal Penny to the Diamondbacks as part of a package of players to aquire Randy Johnson.

NBCSports.com news services
Updated: 6:22 p.m. ET July 30, 2004

With left-handed pitching ace Randy Johnson still the ultimate prize, the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a blockbuster trade Friday when they sent All-Star catcher Paul Lo Duca, outfielder Juan Encarnacion and relief pitcher Guillermo Mota to the Florida Marlins for right-handed pitcher Brad Penny, first baseman Hee Seop Choi and left-handed pitcher Billy Murphy, ESPN reported.

The Dodgers, who lead the NL West and perhaps see an opportunity to win the World Series, still want to land the Arizona Diamondbacks' Johnson, who apparently will decide if he will accept a trade to the Dodgers before the Saturday trading deadline. The Dodgers also are interested in D-Backs center fielder Steve Finley.

The Dodgers reportedly have separate deals tentatively in place with Arizona for Johnson and Finley.

For Johnson, the Dodgers would send Penny and Murphy to Arizona. For Finley, the Dodgers would sent outfielder Jayson Werth and other prospects.

Big Unit seriously considering Dodgers, report says

Even if the Dodgers don't get Johnson, the Los Angeles Times reported the team could still acquire Finley.

The Marlins, who won the World Series last year, also have eyes on the postseason. They apparently were willing to depart with Penny because of payroll concerns, but wanted a productive catcher and another starting pitcher in return.

Los Angeles reportedly has acquired catcher Charles Johnson from the Rockies to fill the hole left by Lo Duca. The deal apparently is only awaiting Charles Johnson's approval.

Based only on stats, Murphy was the top starting pitcher for FLA AA team.

Mets just also picked up Victor Zambrano from TB for Scott Kasmir. Mets and Marlins may be fighting to the death in the NL East.

Also don't be suprised if the Phillies go after Danny Bautista after losing out on Finley. They aren't going to quit either

the D-Rays just got Scott Kazmir? That team is going to be unbelievable in a few years. The Marlins look to be the favorites in the East and maybe the whole NL right now becasue they just shored up their two biggest weaknesses in a set-up guy and a catcher. Of course, the team they're chasing has the best GM in the game so you can never count out the Braves.

Especially since the braves have been surging the past 10 days or so.

Some dude on a Cubs board just said he heard Gammons report on ESPN radio that Johnson said he will accept a trade to LA. I did not hear this and do not know the reliability of this poster but thought I would pass it along.

Well since this is our trade thread I guess I'll put this here...

Per Gambo, It looks like Danny Bautista will be traded to the Red Sox for a catching prospect

True but you have to keep in mind how much we will be saving by trading RJ

How much will the Dbacks bank without Johnson, Mantei and Bautista? $25 million total?

Matt Clement will be a FA and the Cubs probably will not re-sign him. Would like to see Dbacks make a run and him and then drop Webb to #3 behind Penny and Clement. JMHO

This is a GREAT FA class as it comes to pitchers (Odalis Perez, Clement, etc.). Per Gambo, the Dbacks are very interested in a FA pitcher from the Marlins whose name escapes me right now.

Is Mantei going to be shipped? Does anybody want him or is he rumored to be packaged?

Unloading the slaries of RJ, Bautista, and Mantei would be awesome if they turned around and invested into quality depth.

There's a three way involving San Diego, Boston, and the DBacks being discussed. Principles are Steve Finley, Xavier Nady, Vazquez, and a LH Boston prospect that the DBacks covet.
