okay, so for a time we were fretting that we might not be able to move either eisley or white. now white's gone. we have an incredible amount of cash. mcgrady is off to the rockets. kobe looks like he wants to stay home. can the colangeli really settle for nash and okur?

do you realize that our team would like follows:

nash
jj
marion
stoudemire
okur
barbosa
eisley
voskuhl
jacobsen
zarko
lampe
vujanic?????
7th pick

that makes 7/12ths of our roster white? i know i'm gonna get panned for this as racist or reverse racist, or sumpin', but i don't want more than half of our roster to be white! i agree with larry, it's a black man's game.

okay, so i'm freaking out a bit.

Geez, I'm more concerned about who we would bring in, regardless of whether he's black or white.

The problem now is about who we go after. It's obvious we'll be signing some cheap vet minimum players. Okur isn't worth more than 5 million, and I hope the C's realize that. I don't really want Nash, especially if we go Point Guard in the draft, but he would be a decent consolation prize if Tmac and Kobe fall through.

I think we really need to use that 7th pick as incentive in a trade right about now. Trading, to me, seems to be the only way to get anything of value this summer if Kobe and Tmac are gone.

Mukesh agrees and says with that line-up, they may as well hire Ev Meecham as the coach.

Or, of course, we could just use that 7th pick to draft somebody of value! A radical idea, I know, but it just might work.

I think the Suns are still hoping to get Kobe. I don’t see any other way that the Jahidi deal makes sense. Give up White, a first-rounder, and cash, just to make a run at Mehmet Okur (who, by the way, is restricted)?

Nah. Somebody like Okur may be a Plan B that they end up falling up back on (though I kinda hope not), but there has to be a Plan A that can’t happen with “only” $9M in cap room, and that’s worth what we gave up to inflate that room to $15M. Other than Kobe, I can’t imagine what that Plan A might be.

Are you convinced that there will be someone of value at #7? There really was no need for such a wise-ass tone, either.

I think you will be someone at #7 that can help. However if there is a trade possibility that makes them better I don't think they are so in love with the draft that they would pass that opportunity by.

I really don't think that the Phoenix Suns will panic. If they can't get Kobe Bryant I'm not sure what they will do, but I don't think they're going to overpay for someone like Okur. There will be other free agents out there.

Does anyone think they might just sit on the money and not spend it? I'm starting to wonder if the White trade was just a "cost cutting" measure. Maybe this team isn't trying to clear cap room to sign someone as much as they are clearing it to save money? I really hope not because i can't stand to watch losing basketball where there is no hope of contending. The west just became even stronger by adding New Orleans and by Houston picking up T-Mac. If we don't do something big in this offseason I tend to belive that we will be fighting it out with the Clips for worst in the west for years to come and even they are trying to land Shaq.

I'm sure they'll sign someone. Right now the Suns are pretty close to the minimum allowable salary. I'm sure the new ownership is willing to spend more than that.

y'know joe, i'd be inclined to agree with you but for the summer of mcdyess' defection. the suns totally panicked and signed googs and luc longley. not overpaying for okur? just look at the longley fiasco. for the most i trust the suns judgment, but that summer was a pivotal offseason, much as the current one is, and when things didn't go exactly as planned they had a brainfart, i'm frightened that it may happen again.

When Longley was asked if he might expand his game now that he was out from MJ's shadow, he responded with a "yes" and made some comment about opening up offensively some.

Ainge was talking about it and said, "Oh no, this guy thinks he's good!"
