The softball season opened for Greensburg with standout performances in the circle by Harper Adams for the Lady Pirates and a shared effort from Ashton Richey and Macey Ballard. Each team was only able to collect one hit, but the Lady Pirates were able to push across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to open the season with a 1-0 win.

After six scoreless innings for the Lady Titans, Greensburg went to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. Addyson Dolan broke up the no-hit bid by Tri with a double to center field. Aubrie Barnes-Pettitt put down a sacrifice bunt to move Dolan to third with one out.

Dolan came in to score the lone and winning run on a wild pitch. Adams finished off the game in the top of the seventh for the Lady Pirates, striking out two and getting a fly out to Emma McQueen in center field.

Tri's only hit came in the top of the first inning on a single to left field by Ballard.

Adams went all seven innings in the circle, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out 14.

Offensively, Addyson Dolan had a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored. Kamryn Haas and McQueen both drew a walk, and McQueen added a stolen base.

In the circle for Tri, Richey pitched two innings, allowing no hits and no runs with one walk and three strike outs. Ballard pitched four innings, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out eight.

Greensburg is scheduled to host Madison at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
