I'll watch that if you watch Blopez literally hold and drag Bledsoe on four moving screens in a row in the first half.

I'm sure he did, the illegal screens in the NBA drive me nuts.

Instead of saying you should have moved up for Lonzo, you should have taken Fox. I love Josh Jackson, but with Bledsoe presumably on the way out, taking his replacement probably made the most sense in hindsight.

I was a huge Fox fan. It is what it is. It became apparent the Suns were not going to draft a PG.

Yeah he's better than I thought he would be. He still can't shoot reliably yet but he's so athletic he can get to the rim at will and he already looks like he's going to be an exceptional defender. As solid as George Hill is he's probably going to be shopped at some point this year by the Kings because with Fox and Mason they've got 2 young PG's who are going to be good.

I love Josh Jackson I think he'll be a terrific player, but I think it's easier to get a good SF than a good PG.

I thought Fox was special but we shall see.

Get Bledsoe out of here. Looks like he didn’t want to play. His D on Lonzo was atrocious.

Only thing I’m not sure is why he kept going under screens until near the end. Coaches instruction?

Like I said in the Blazers thread, Bledsoe is not the pg to push our team over the hump. What has he done in his entire tenure with the Suns exactly?

I wonder if PHX will be as bad as the 2009-10 Nets (12 wins). Interesting poll on Channel 12, who will get first win first Coyotes or Suns.

One concern about Jackson is he only had 2 rebounds in two games and both of those rebounds came in the opener. It's hard for a forward to do this. He will need to get stronger.

We're going to suck no matter who coaches us. What we need is a guy who can coach them fundamentals and stick to it. In a few years, we can see what we have. But what we are doing is just wasting our suck because we aren't teaching and forming fundamental playing traits in our players.

In essence, we can suck and learn something, or we can just suck. We seem to be going for 'just suck'.

That's the problem. Watson literally cannot teach fundamentals, and with Booker and JJ, that's dangerous as both have elite-level ceilings and won't reach their full potential with substandard coaching. We have the talent to compete, we simply don't have the leadership.

I missed large chunks of the game but when I was watching it sure seemed like the suns gameplan was make Lonzo shoot, they either went under the screen to give him the jumper or they pressured him and tried to funnel him to the rim. He took 27 shots which is like 3 normal games for him, he was smart enough to realize what the Suns were doing and made them pay.

If Chandler is 27 then yeah that gameplan works he protects the rim, but at 37 it doesn't work.

It was more that Chandler played the entire game in foul trouble, including five fouls all through crunch time, and so he offered basically no help defense once Ball got past his initial defender.

A better poll would be the Suns or the 2018 Diamondbacks.
That depends on whether the D-backs trade Zack Greinke so they can afford to keep JD Martinez hitting behind Goldy all season long.

But that's a topic (which it is) for another ASFN board. :)

Josh Jackson...

23 Min
40% Shooting
40% from the line
0 Rebounds
0 Assists
-10.

Meanwhile..... Lonzo goes off. JJ has to be better than that.

The team shot 68% from the line on 38 attempts? We are going nowhere fast. (Again)

Meh Ball is not a good finisher. Don't worry about the double when he penetrates, make sure to cover his kick out man.

Unfortunately the Suns didn't bother to defend Ball at all on one play. The seas parted as he drove to the basket. It immediately started talk on twitter the Suns are tanking again.

They were very competitive in this game, and that's right where we want to be. One more season of losing but hopefully by 3 points per game. Then, warm up the parade floats in the following years.

When the defense was sound Lonzo struggled to finish. I think Lonzo will struggle when he faces good athletic defenses.

Lonzo will struggle to finish but I think he will only get better as he matures. When he was going up against Chandler he struggled until he started using the other hand. He is smart enough to learn and make adjustments. Ball is sort of like Jackson in that he will have to work on shooting stroke.
