I’d be willing to bet money that a lot of losing streaks come to an end in Phoenix this season.

So now you’re a glass half full guy?

I can hope that's what happens but I don't think that will be the case. I do think we'll be fall right around the over/under of 35 though, provided Booker doesn't miss more than a handful of games. If he plays in less than 70, we're screwed.

I expected us to win around 35 games but that's when I thought we'd acquire a middling point guard and that everybody was right about Ariza succeeding as our small ball 4. Needless to say, I've downgraded my prediction as we have no PG and no PF. If Booker misses substantial time, we'll be seriously challenged just to improve on last season's record IMO.

Remember when Booker said that he does not want to play on a team that doesn't make the playoffs? 'No doubt Ayton will pick up on that.

If the roster isn't shaken up, that is exactly what will happen. Contracts or not, they will let it be known (as in Bledsoe) that they won't want to be here. Especially when the tanking formally begins, to buy management more time.

The Suns will be left with a Managing Partner who has ruined them. And a succession of weak General Managers. And the same with Head Coaches. And a roster not worthy of the G-League.

It has always been my nature to be an idealist. But I am also a realist. I don't see very much to hope for in the Phoenix Suns right now. Everything seems to be in place for the same old-same old.

Please, Steve, you more than anyone are the one I would look to for hope. What say you?

You probably aren't going to like what I think of our current situation and our future. Booker said what he said and (apparently) we reacted to it. That was a huge misstep. We weren't one draft away and acting like it has put our present in jeopardy and perhaps our future. We had no business spending big on a mediocre free agent or trading up for a position that was not of need.

We should have stayed with the timeline and in 2 years or so, we'd be a force to deal with. Now, I think we've cost ourselves at least a year in our rebuild. But still, we have two excellent building blocks and I'm looking forward to watching them grow. And I'm crossing my fingers that Sarver and company don't make things worse.

He didn't say that though. He said he's tired of missing the playoffs and will do everything he can to make sure that he doesn't miss the playoffs again for the remainder of his career. Not long after that he signed his extension and talked about bringing the Suns back to their glory days because he loves the city, the fans, and the organization. He reiterated over the summer that he wants to be a Sun for life multiple times.

There is a big difference between what he said and what you claim he said. What he said shows maturity, leadership, and accountability. How you took it has him with one foot out the door already while he blames the organization for everything without accepting any blame or fault for the Suns coming up short.

I suggest the bolded phrase you quoted is the key. How the Suns are trending. Booker (and Ayton) can do only so much when they look at the rest of this roster ... and another GM turnover.

And with Jones the next heir apparent, how long before another GM turnover? And, as a result and looking for another scapegoat, how long before another Head Coach turnover? And on and on.

So far, the Suns are continuing their 8-year downturn. If Booker grows tired of not seeing it change direction, you can expect him to throw his hands up in the air whenever he has had enough.

We especially agree on the sentence in bold.

Well, seeing Jackson's play, sf was a position of need. Warren is a great 6th man. I agree about the FA signing. But when Ariza was signed, he was supposed to be a pf. Anderson's arrival put him at PF and Ariza at SF.

So, I guess I disagree with the second and agree with the first.

Word was that McD was going to draft Dante before we had the opportunity to move up for Bridges. Looks like that would have been a good choice at that position.

I have high hopes for Igor, but its kinda looking like he does the old "Euro coach" thing about favoring the vets just because they are vets. We might have to start a "Sit the stinking geezers down" thread.

I know we talked about it but did someone actually say this officially? He's played a little bit at power forward but he's really a small forward/shooting guard and I can't see anyone expecting more from him than spot duty at the 4. And small forward "appeared" to be a resolved position at the time of the signing of Ariza and the draft. I don't see how they could have anticipated that Jackson was going to revert to last November's form.

I think we can out the “euro coach” concept out to pasture. He’s been an nba coach for 20 years, right? I think pop always had a similar attitude.

I agree with you. I think it was our own conjecture about him playing PF. I know I helped fuel that fire.
