Lakers @ Suns Tuesday Playoff game thread 5-25-2021 - Game #2

Wasn't it against the Lakers when Booker was called for 2 T's in a row and was tossed? Funny that Payne suffers a similar fate in game 1. That should tell everyone our team that even 1 T is unacceptable because the refs can and will double it up for flimsy reasons.

Cmon guys enough of this whining. We got jobbed in the first half in foul calls but Payne absolutely 100% earned both technicals. He lowered his shoulder into Caruso and then he threw the ball at Caruso. Those are both legit techs. They are both called ALL THE TIME. They aren’t “flimsy.” Y’all are better than that. I find it quite coincidental that we've had 2 players tossed for double techs against the Lakers. Payne's was much more legit than Booker's, which were flimsy. I didn't say he didn't deserve to be tossed. I do think Harrell should have been tossed as well though.

That doesn't change what I said, our guys need to keep their composure and keep themselves from being in a position to be T'd up because we've now seen it twice against the Lakers where a player gets tossed for one incident where the refs find 2 separate things to call a T on so they can eject our player. Usually a player is given a little leeway to calm down before they get hit with a second T but apparently that's not how things will be called against the Lakers.

In a fair world they wouldn't be allowed to throw the ball at Caruso, they'd be required to.

After game 1 I really wonder if the refs start calling that? the whole reason LeBron hurt his left shoulder was Paul had already been hurt in the earlier part of the game and was mad. LeBron keeps stepping in early so Paul decides he's going to step in early too and screen Bron out, he winds up undercutting him and grabs his arm for full effect, LeBron falls and grabs his shoulder like he's been hit with a taser and it winds up in another argument between players. My guess is the refs might start cracking down and the best way to do it is not let the shooter step in early. If they do that look for leBron to miss FT's, in the one series a few years ago he got called for it twice and shot like 60% on FT's because it bothered him

The lack of enforcement of that rule really bugs me. It they can’t step in til it hits the rim, call it that way. If you are going to let players step in as soon as it leaves the shooters hand, make that the rule and call it that way.

First, Caruso should have been called for a block on Payne, then all of this would have never happened.

Second Lebron should be called for a lane violation if they're going to enforce the 10 second rule on Giannis.

Did you notice when Leflop was down on the floor holding his arm, he notices he has no ones attention. LOL

Oh not to mention, the Saric "foul". He did nothing to deserve a foul on that play as well. Nothing. No one speaks of it, the refs give LeFlop the calls.

It was so clever of Chris Paul to make this play. He knew Lebron was going to crash the boards and here is this small guard taking him out of the play. Paul understands the entire game and knows exactly what the opposing player is trying to do.

Regarding the FT rules they could call an early lane violation every play. In fact Giannis got called for a 10-second rule during game one.

I hope we're able to keep the same crowd energy up from game 1. That was a big part of keeping the Lakers from getting any momentum going. It also seemed to energize Ayton and the rest of the Suns team. I know fans haven't been seen at sporting events like that for well over a year now but its about 15 years since I've seen AWA rock like that.

I don't recall him being that way at Wake Forest or with New Orleans and I haven't seen it so much once he moved to Houston but he was one of the worst offenders in the sneaky/dirty/ref manipulating class while he was a Clipper. It's possible it just stood out to me because I watched him much more often while he was in LA than I ever had before or since (until now) but I despised him with a passion when he played for Doc. He fell right between Bowen and Ginobili on my most disliked list.

I don't know what his intent was but he hit him about as hard as a safety hits a receiver in the middle of the field. He just so happened to wrap him up as well so he didn't go flying across the court.

Meh, maybe a bit hyperbolic, but he did get hit hard by Harrell.

Edit: Re-watched it and it definitely wasn't as bad as I remembered. Think he caught Payne off balance and made it look worse.

Yeah everyone violates it the players on the key step in early, teh shooter does etc. The problem with LeBron doing it he's 6'9" and a beast, if he steps in early and misses, he's got a good chance of getting his own rebound. that's why Paul is breaking the rule by crossing the 3 point line early he knows if he doesn't, he'll never get to LeBron and the guys on the lane might forget to block LeBron out.

They need to enforce the rule right but honestly everyone on the lane does it so that's sort of self enforcing, they just need to stop the shooter from doing it, and LeBron is probably the worst guy in the league at it he almost never shoots a FT where he doesn't break that rule
